Oh the card is fine, but the drivers will drive you nuts. My favorite one was when the drivers crashed while I was just surfing the internet and watching a video. Nice. Yeah, I've got a ATI card, looking to replace it. A X1300 Pro 512MB in case you're curious. I also used to own a radeon 8500 way back when (3-4 years ago, ages in computer years :P) and the drivers were terrible then too, but they didn't randomly crash. I don't know how they've managed to make them worse. Hopely AMD's new ownership will get their software act together cause I generally like their hardware offerings.

I work on computers for a living and have been building computers from scratch for about 5 years now. That's the thing about computers and us "experts," there are as many opinions about how best to build a computer and what parts to use as there are opinions about what car is best and which parts to use on it. ;)

IBM t series laptops are prolly one of the best and why most companies use it.

the IBM lenovo partnership is weird, since IBM and lenovo logos are on the new stuff

Yeah IBM Thinkpad is rad. Lenovo bought IBM's PC business, and has the right to use the IBM logo for however many years. The new Apple stuff is where it is at...

It's not a partnership Lenovo bought the pc side of IBM and leased the IBM logo for five years, the closer it comes to that lease ending the more Lenovo logos you will see so nobody notices when the IBM logo is gone.

*EDIT*
Just realized Mac said the same thing, +1 for the new Apple setups, I am considering moving to the darkside and using Bootcamp to run windows for all of my work things.

And I'm not being negative, just very opinionated.
My computer:
AMD Opteron 165 (1.8 GHz) clocked at 2.38 GHz.
Abit KN8-SLI motherboard
2 GB of ram
dual 120 GB seagates in RAID 0
"borrowed" nVidia 7600 GT (cause I was tried of my x1300's crap)
SB Audigy 4 sound card.

And my umipressive, old thinkpad sporting a powerful dropping P3-M.

I'm digging the cartoon lol. Not a bad setup, if I do stick with pc's I am probably going to wait for the quadcore setups to come out.

Dude, Seagate. 5 year warranty = reliable stuff. And why would you get a raptor for storage when you could have a 250 GB 7200 rpm drive for the same price? If the 7800 GT needs a good home while your hard drives are away I"ve been wanting to try SLI.

I've had 2 - 73GB 10K rpm Raptors running RAID 1 for over a year now. No issues.

The speed is what I was after, since I also run a P4 extreme chip.

If speed is what you're after then why run RAID 1? RAID 0 man, come on.

Because RAID 1 is fast enough, and RAID 0 offers zero data protection.

If a drive does get lost, all I have to do is swap the drive and let it rebuild, not reload everything I had on it, patch it, blah blah blah.

The Raptors have a 5 year warrenty too. I need the games stored on that drive to load fast! Its a pain but I'll own raptors until something better comes out for the price.

2 7200 rpm Barracudas in RAID 0 > a single raptor. I know what you mean though, I can't go back to a single drive anymore, it's just too slow.
