Honestly since im new to all of this, i value everyone's opinion on which parts companies to go with, but in the end the only thing im worried about is my "bang for my buck". I'd let to get the best possible parts at a price that a poor college kid can afford. This is partly why i am going to go with the replacement filter instead of the intake. I have heard that the intake makes the car sound nicer but doesnt really give any performance upgrade to my car. And the 45 bucks for so that ill pay for the filter is something that i hope will gain me a slight power increase.
-Dan I still want a turbo tho :-P

Back to the OP....just keep the car in tune. A chip won't gain you much, other than a hole in the wallet and a bigger one keeping the tank filled with premium fuel. If you want a suspension that handles-- Shine Real Street Suspension.

Considering i just pissed away a bunch of money on books and rent. The only thing i will be doin for a while is the air filter unless i somehow find a get rich quick scheme. Altho i am really liking the gas stations around me, 10 cent price drop in the span of 24 hrs(2.89 -> 2.79 for 93). That and one of my fogs is dead so i want to replace that.

Nice (Pembroke?) Corgi in the sig.
YOu drive a 2.slow. Putting premium does more harm than good. You are promoting higher deposit formation that bumps up your compression ratio & you cannot go back less you decarbonize your engine.

I would go with the Eurosport intake if I were you. Eurosport is well-known throughout the Euro tuner community. If you plan on turbocharging the car, I'd suggest the WinTEC3 EMS. It's a bit on the pricey side, but pretty decent at what it does. If you need more information on it, check it out at http://www.directignition.com/products/wintec3d.html

I didn't read all the posts but this is my feeling on this topic...
An intake is... an intake they are all just an alum. tube with a filter, the main difference in quality is going to be the filter on the end... I always suggest for someone on a budget to get the cheapest one, ebay intake, trash the filter or sell it on ebay and then getting a K&N filter for the end... Edit: Oh also a good tune up is money better spent than an intake or other little performance upgrades

Well I have a Dub and an INtake. You should really ask yourself why an intake. What are you looking to gain. Intakes are nice. You get a deeper growl and the engine feels less restrictive. But an intake alone is not going to do a ton on performance. You will notice a small improvement.
the intake likes to have a companion like a Chip. Chip+Intake is a great combo. Anyway. Next question should be short Ram or not. I went with EIP. I am very happy but yes I get nervous when it rains. I have the bypass valve by AEM but they break. Here is pic kinda lousy but you get the point.. It really depends on you. also if money is an issue just go with a cheaper one. they all do the same thing. |

If you get a chip please get it tuned don't just buy an e-bay chip, there is no wonder chip that will make your car fast...they need to be tuned specificlly for your vehicle, most ebay chips just advance ignition timing and remove rev limiters which are not good things and will lead to engine death

I had my car flashed by awe and love it! I have a short ram but it's not on the car yet. There is also other little s**t done to the car but nothing major yet. Only 20k miles til my warranty is up and then look the f@*k out!

Damn you guys sure know how to bring a thread back from the dead. As of right now i havent gone with anything yet, school is alittle expensive for me right now so im more than likely holding off on anything until after xmas or even as late as summer. The comment on the tune up tho, is something i have been considering and would like to do if the money is there. Since it is a older car with higher miles, im very cautious on what i will do to it. How much do you guys think a tune-up would run me?

For Decent tune up:
Spark Plugs and Wires New Distributr cap and Rotor(I think your car may be coil pack and not dizzy) New Air Filter Oil change and filter New PCV Check change coolant maybe thermostat Check Tires and tire pressure Check brakes, rotors, and fluid Check all Fluids Check Belts for Cracks or tears and adjust tension as needed Test battery make sure its 12-13v Thats a good list for a tune up and maintence, I may have missed a few but those are all things i like to check often....

~137K miles, it still pulls nice and strong and shifts smoothly, so i cant really complain.
