Being as I went to Buffalo for college and lived there for four years, the Anchor Bar became a favorite spot of mine. If you are ever in Buffalo for any reason, it is a mandatory stop if you like chicken wings.

my family ruled bavaria for 730+ years until 1914 and is still an important family in the area.

You can thank my family for such things as Oktoberfest and the Beer Purity Law of Germany (the Reinheitsgebot). We also have the only Castle Brewery in the world, Kaltensburg.

To the OP:
The only famous people I have encountered are:
Shania Twain, rode four wheelers on her property at her recording studio in the Adirondacks. Was escorted off said property by armed guards. Oops.

My friend, his uncle, and I pulled Clint Black's limo out of a ditch at the same location in the adirondacks as he was trying to get to her recording studio for some project they were working on together.

I cleaned Mel Gibsons boat when he vacationed in the 1000 islands region and brought/served champagne to Willy Nelson at the same resort. I bartended at a hotel in buffalo with a friend where we met pretty much every professional wrestler in the WWF or whatever under the sun. One of the black guys was just massive...his stage name was booker or something? Triple H is ginormous too. Its funny cus they had just got back from a wrestling match beating each other up but they were all getting along like they were all best friends.

Pretty good for living way up in the sticks I'd say.

I would love to meet Angelina Jolie and ogle her I would also love to meet Tom Cruise so I could punch him in the gut or squirt him with a fake flower or something.

I knew the Kottonmouth Kings before they went big. I use to go to there weekly house parties in Paradise Valley when I lived in Arizona.

The hard proof of this is unknown at this time. My great grandfather did a shiat load of research and had proof. That disappeared into an attic when he died. We don't really talk to that side of the family that received all that stuff...cause they're dick heads.

I do plan on getting it back before I visit germany. It'd be nice to have a free room in a castle brewery ;)

Yea no joke. A castle and beer. Man, that would be the life. Only thing missing is some wenches and a big ol turkey leg or roasted pig.

We all know of people but do you actually know them personally? I met an exfootball player for the Dallas Cowboys who comes to my work. He has 3 Super Bowl rings. He played with Aikmen and Deion Sanders back in the day. He is a nice guy. His name is something Williams.
But I don't know him personally or anything.

I got nothing.

I once was a lifeguard at a party that a bunch of the flyers were at. I also have met and hung out with alot of bands but I dont consider that knowing. Plus, i really could care less if a person is famous or not, unless that famous persons name happens to be Kiera Knightly, Rache Leigh Cook, Natalie Portman or Danika Patrick.

I am related to the Andretti family (IIRC Michael is my 3rd cousin) and I met them at a family reunion back when I was about 8, I had a picture with Mario but it disappeared after we moved. My grandfather on that side of the family also was friends with Gorilla Monsoon, his real name was Robert but I can't remember his last name. I met him quite a few times when I was young and I always though he was so cool because back then I was a big WWF fan.
Also, I don’t know if it counts because I am sure no one here has heard of him but my other grandfather was press secretary for Tom Kean and Whitman so I got to meet like every R that held office in NJ over the past 20+ years and even got to spend a week every summer as a kid at the Governors beach house. He still does the occasional interview on NJN and writes articles for the NY Times and a bunch of papers in the area but his new thing is adopting Asian babies so now I have 3 Chinese aunts and the oldest one is 17 years younger than me.

I'm pretty famous.

I once took my ice skate off and tried to stab somebody with it. I'm the only person to ever do that.

My family comes from Lower Saxony, The same region where VW is.

George Strait the country singer is my distant cousin. I have seen Louis Black (comedian) and David Borealous (Buffy) through my various travels.

I'd say parturnal due to the last names being nearly the same. I can only surmise that when my great great grandfather came to the states they couldn't understand the name exactly.

And to be honest, w/ a german accent the two last names sounds the same.

The only catch is that I have my mom's maiden name, not my biological fathers.

Alot of names got Americanized. I am not surprised. we had some relatives came over in the 1800's they chopped off the von der in our name.

Germans are very peticular about Family Rank in Landed Gentry.
