I know your pain

My accident last year on Clifmas eve.

It ended up costing the insurance company $11,500 to fix the car, and $2,100 for me to drive a rental car for 75 days. It was the most frustrating ordeal I have ever been in.

Let me give you some advice.

First, the car has a rear sub frame, which may or may not be damaged. Looking at the car, it is possible there may also be damage to the floor pan. If so, you will have about the same list of repairs I did, plus what ever he borked around the wheel area.

Second, from reading your thread, i see your uncle owns a shop. I would *highly* reccomend that before he starts any work, you get a second estimate that is consistant with the estimate that he will submit to the responsable parties insurance. This is a quick CYA in the event they insinuate that anything less than legitimate is going on.

KBB lists the retail value of a 2003 WRX at 21,300. That is crazy, I think I paid less for my new '03 in march of '03 just as the '04s where hitting. I got $18k for trade in on my car, in may of last year. Find out what the paying parties insurance considers a total loss. Find out what they value the vehicle at. The estimate on my car went from 8k to 11k as they took it apart, and that was being hit square in the rear.

I doubt you will need it, but i have my detail listing of what they replaced from my accident, if you need it.

Oh, and don't do an '04 rear converstion...I think the '03 rear, with the factory body kit looks bad-ass.
