Loads of mechanical problems (ABS Module died, engine mount is cracked, power window regulator died) have hindered my plans for visual mods and such. Rear springs still have to go in as does a new amp for the OEM subwoofer (which is a task I plan to tackle on friday). Anyway, cleaned her up and painted the rear emblems black, then went for a little photo op and a local boat dock.

I fell ya on the issues man... My rear hydraulic mount cracked and leaked everywhere, replacing that tomorrow(PITA). Have an EVAP leak at the vent valve which i just found which looks like an easy fix. Done modifying this car, didn't get far, all i did was an intake which im selling. But anyhow the car is looking nice now. I think I am going to use forever black soon as well, the plastic trim looks neat but fades so bad. Good luck with everything! I am pretty sure there are still some people out there selling rebuilt ABS modules and theyre a lot cheaper than new OE ones.

and better quality. Our Volvo's here have been running rebuilt modules for 6 and 10 years each with no issues. '95 850T, '98 V70. I think the '93 940T Wagon is still on its original. Pretty good for 203k

I've been looking into getting a used module with a warranty for even cheaper than a rebuilt one but I may try to resolder the one I have now first, I dunno what to do really. The Forever Black stuff works wonders, I have some before and after pics of a friends 98 XC70 that I can pm you if you'd like. It's held up really well, no fading after a dozen hand washes and a lot of rainstorms. Got a new JBL sub to go in tomorrow but the driver side rear shock started squeaking like all hell today so the replacements are going on a lot sooner than anticipated (Monday morning.) Took the car to the shop about the motor mount and the mechanic said the rubber is cracked but it's still ok, just gonna vibrate a lot so that's going to be on the back burner for a while.

Was too damn hot out to do any work with the new sub and amp. Spent a couple minutes cutting up a new carpet for the trunk and regluing the broken dipstick handle.

Pics of said carpet before it got cut up as well as all the emblems post black paint.

Just painted my OEM wheels black. Might throw those back on the car tomorrow depending on how it sits.

So I put on of the OEM wheels back on today and I kinda like the way it looks, but I'm not sure if I like it more than what's already on there.

Pro - 15 inch wheel with meatier tire that fills the same amount of space height-wise, slightly more comfy ride, nice OEM look, tires have more tread and wheels have less curb rash

Cons - they don't stick out as far as the 17s do, not as glossy of a finish, thicker tire doesn't look as good.

Instead of using attachments you should create a flickr or photobucket to host your pics.

I'd usually just use imgur but my photos have been coming out way too big on this site. I'll sign up for flickr though and give that a shot.

Edit: From flickr -

Oh that's way better. Thanks Shipman!

No problem, I use flickr and I think thats the best one, also when you click the share link you can pick what size you want, all the way from thumbnail to the original size, med 800 is a good size to use

Suspension day!

Rear shocks were letting go so I needed to get them replaced finally. Bought some lower springs a few months ago and finally did the rear ones.

Taking the old ones out, drivers side was bent and snapped and a disaster, didn't realize this was a mildly dangerous car to be driving -

2 hours later and I had both struts in and the OEM wheels back on. -

Still not 100% sure which wheels I'd like to stick with more but for now these look good.

Also no I will not be slamming it to the ground. Maybe one day I'll get coils but I'd only drop it another inch or so. As for now, I've got some mechanical issues to sort out and would like to get tints. Might be putting a sub and amp in the trunk later today though.

Another small but sad update, I don't really have the funds to keep this car running forever and more things are starting to need fixing. Spent the day looking for a replacement, might be driving a 2002 V70 XC on Monday.

Edit: I'm only really looking to sell my v40 for about 3k, if anyone here is interested feel free to PM me.

Thanks man! My fathers already giving me **** for owning an old grannymobile but whatever, I always like the big Volvo wagons and I should've bought this to begin with. Dunno what, if anything, I would do to this wagon. Plan to just enjoy it for a while and find out what some weak points are/bring it to stage 0 before anything else.
