GLH: Goes Like Hell
GLH-S: Goes Like Hell-somemore
GLH-T: ??

And what was the difference btw the -S and -T models?

I always thought the "S" was for Shelby.

This car was originally supposed to be called the Cyote. Because Cyotes eat Rabbits (VW)!!

Good luck with it man, turbo dodges rule!

history lesson!

GLH (goes like hell) carried the carbed H.0. 2.2l motor, featured a .2(or .3) bore and a crankshaft for more compression, upping the sub 90 hp rating to 110 ponies, which was a lot for the time period. That engine was released in the 83 1/2 Shelby Charger. The engine was designed by Carroll SHelby and his team of misfits.

Come 85 a new model was released with the GLH, a GLH-T.... which oddly enough was a turbo version (t is for turbo...there is your alphabet lesson for the day kiddos)

I believe that lasted from 85-86, the GLH-T. The turbo engine was an EFI 2.2l engine with a turbo. 146BHP

in 86 Shelby also introduced the fabled GLH-S, the bane of Grand National owners all over the country. With its stronger internals and an intercooler, the puppy pushed out an incredible 176bhp, in a 2,300lb car!! GLH-S does stand for "Goes Like Hell Some-more"

Story has it, while sitting around with the execs explaining the car they asked.."what does GLH stand for?" again they asked about the S in later years.

Also, apparently Chrysler Exec's thought the 176 i/c turbo motor in the lightweight omni was such a good idea and planned on telling the old man "no". He had the car shipped out to their headquarters and took them for a drive in the car.

Yes, the Omni(or GLH version, not sure) was going to be named the coyote as it was meant to go after the Rabbit's sales. Thankfully, they thought better...I like me "Goes Like Hell"

Now, those dates are fairly accurate..I could be off a little. www.allpar.com has all the info you need, and I'm sure wikipedia.com does as well...

right now I'm researching. And looking for a p/t job during the week during the evening hours to pay for the parts. Hopefully I'll have the job nailed down in a week or two. I'd like to begin buying parts next week.

Like I said, there is an 88 SHelby Z with a T2 and the strong A555 trans in the area...that is tempting, but I really want an 89 commonblock to hold the high HP I'm after...so we'll see.

I'm sure I can piece everything together from sales online though.

Stock common block (89+) will be good for your 350 hp target. Ask me how I know...

Sweet Omni.

www.harborfreight.com

^ Learn it. Live it. Love it.

:D

I'd offer my help, but i'm still in the 2nd stage of mine. It's on the lift awaiting the rebuilt A568 and loads of other crap I bought for it.

However, I may be of some service because I know an old Shelby Automobiles parts and service manager from Wittier California. If you have any questions about your TII swap or are having trouble finding a part (and can't get the info off of one of the td forums) PM me and I'll ask him.

As soon as I get this thing back on the road I can be a bit more social. Right now I am without a car.

You going to the SRTnationals/SDAC-16 in July?

No SAC 16 for me, I'll plan for 17 though...

I have the SRT Track Experience coming up end of this month, and Disney World vacation end of June. And a project car now...so with all that I'm fairly tapped out.

yeah, if you're looking for 400+ hp you need to go with the DOHC 16v conversion. Just can't flow enough through the SOHC and 8v system. I figure if I need more than 350hp with the T2 I'll just spray

And the Quakertown area's Bruce Bender has proven you do NOT need a 16v. He has an 8 valve Omni that will light drag slicks for over 1/2 the track if he's not careful, and a 1/4 of the track no matter what he does. He's deep into 11s with it.

Also... Quakertown's Tom O'Flynn has THE (Larry Jollife's) alcohol injected 500whp Spirit R/T. It looks COMPLETELY stock. Talk about a truely insane car.

I also know of at least 2 other TD guys in the area. sometimes they show at the Quakertown Park public swimming pool lot on WED nights. Goes as late as 11:00 and I've seen everythng from Audis to Vipers. Check it out if you have time.

oh nice!

I'll have to talk to him and pick his brain about the Omni, I'd like to get those numbers w/o spray!

They do this every wednesday night? What is it, just a hang out?

Thankyou much, Honest Bob.

It's VW Vortex's meet. They moved to the public pool from Nestors because the police didn't approve of the location and there were a group of ricers that would always act up. The pool is legal and tucked away from the main highway. The a-holes can't find it as easily.

Just take it easy on the street near the pool. It's a 25mph zone and the police are always watching.
