What would you choose? Low Milage Z06 or brand new Grand Sport?

Careful if you go Z06 route. The engines have been having issues lately it seems. Here are a few posts about guys engines blowing over at the Vette forums. This is just in the past week or so. Interesting reads.

I would buy a C6Z without worry. They are just as good as any other Vette. It might seem like they have more issues at times but its actually only because they typically are driven much harder and raced at a higher %.

If I was willing to spend $40k on a DD I would of got one myself.

The LS7 problem with valves and such is at the very most 1% of the motors produced with the known problem being at 0.18%.........i wouldn't worry.

Having driven them I'd take the z06 over a zr1. So for sure z06>c6 gs

lol I'd like to know how exactly you came up with those numbers.

I'd say it's still worth considering if you are in the market for one. Take a look at the last thread I posted in my post above, where they are keeping a list. There are guys having the issue with stock motors.

Yeah you guys mention they might be being driven harder but come on, give me a break, you don't buy a $80k+ car that's marketed as a performance sports car, and then not expect to be able to drive it hard. In stock form, it should handle an extreme amount of abuse for what it is.

Either way, the OP asked for opinions, and I just wanted him to be informed of the potential problems with the LS7.

It's from the forums that collected the data, it's not a huge problem....BUT as im in the market for a C6 Z06 it is def something that's in the very back of my head.

07+ STI's have had much higher failure rates with nothing done to correct the problem with the ****ty tune, so i don't worry too much about the problems with the LS7s.

But, you're right, it is worth mentioning.

There is a very small amour of c5z that snap valve springs too... But you will hear about every single broken one and nothing about the other 99 that are fine.

Thanks guys- I'm leaning heavily towards the Z06. I had an LS3 before so I'd like to own the 427. Plus the depreciation issue will be a big factor since I more around between cars a lot.
