one computer wouldn't be enough to carry out a DDOS attack, you need alot of computers requesting the same server at the same time, which at that point makes the server freeze because it can't handle the amount of requests it's taking in.

Since Anonymous is a big group, this type of attack is cake for them

IRC or through AOL email, AOL made tons upon tons of money while they uploaded files of MB size across a 28k. WTF-

You'll never destroy it.

Not going to argue or debate about it. They made hundreds of millions of dollars because of their vast majority of pirated media. Your Nike image isn't even going to draw 1 person to this site. So put words in my mouth all you want, you know what I meant.

Its not about putting blame on somebody, its about who's responsible.

You can't start a company, and reap the benefits, with out being held responsible for what goes on inside said company.

true, but lets look at it like this sites like Disney, C-Net, MNBC and so on should be held accountable just as much, Since they are the ones who not only provide the software but go and give detailed instructions in how to use those softwares. It's just an animal instinct in all of us that hasn't been bread out. If food (media) is sitting there free for the taking, it's going to me taken.

Another way to look at this is large corporations or governments reap religiously benefits with out taking any responsibility, yet nothing ever happens to them. Kinda makes one think, it's a do as I say not as I do scenario.

Efnet, Dalnet, Undernet were all good for that. So were newsgroups and WinVN to get many useful things.

Has anyone read the indictment?

This isn't as black and white as many people are making it out to be. From how I read it, Megaupload was aware of the material on their site. They were not complying with the DMCA and they were encouraging members to upload "illegal" material.

I don't think this is like Grooveshark or TPB being shut down. I think there was some shady business going on here, and I think they crossed a few lines.

The timing is suspicious, though. I'll give it that.

They were giving rewards, sometimes up to several thousand dollars to members that uploaded large quantities of pirated material. That's what got Megaupload the unwanted attention.

Bingo, Just like when owning a bar, the owner is responsible for the activities that go on within. Or, someone who lets thieves knowingly store stolen property at their warehouse. Law is law and the internet IS real life...

The biggest problem here is those that can not grasp things unless it happens to them. Freedom doesn't mean your allowed to get free sh**. All the content on that site was created by someone who worked hard to do so, They do it to make money, not have it copied by a single purchaser and handed out for free to millions..

I don't want to hear that BS, as the companies where bitching and crying before the internet as at everyone's finger tips, saying that millions of people where affecting companies profit margin dramatically.

when they decide to stop over charging for a bucket of poppy corns and urine size cup of sodie pops. I'll consider the thought of watching media streamed from online.
