Ah wait, I have photos of my old Wrangler there haha:

Yea true, I did get to see a lot of the smoke.
Nice! Looks like you had some fun that day? lol XD
Here are some pics I got when I went up there back in Aprill 2010, I don't know if this stuff is still there though-

And me just enjoying the view =]

There were shot gun shells EVERYWHERE when I went up. Smashed TVs, just lots of trash everywhere =/

Rausch is my favorite place where you have to pay a fee. Been going there for years. Supposed to go this weekend but the snow/ice storm does not bode well.

Was up there today while taking my girlfriend to her house. Mostly everything was plowed and I wanted to see how my Subaru would do in deeper snow.

Saw 2 tj's and what looked like an LJ?

Pics are awesome.
The place is like a haunted movie come to the life.
So surreal that it's still burning.

You should have a get together i would love to wheel with you up there been up there once but have no idea where to go! Like all the good spots. I took my wrangler over that little dirt hill covering the old road and hit a rock and broke off my side step haha.

Cool pictures, looks like a good time.

I had never heard of Centralia before this morning when I read about it in a article explaining some ghost towns due to natural disasters... My friends and I try to go to abandoned/haunted/etc. types of places, just to see the history and experience it. I hate the stupid kids who go in an graffiti all over and ruin the history, which a LOT of places here in NJ are like that now.. once they're in rough shape either the state comes in and secures the location, disallowing anyone in (or else you get jail time) or they demolish everything and either leave it an empty lot or rebuild :-(. We need to start taking trips out to PA, there's quite a few places I'd like to check out, Centralia being one of them... however, has anyone ever had any issues with the Carbon Monoxide coming up from the fire's? Or is it safe enough to take a day trip out there and check it out?

I travel through centrailia many times during the week going to the girlfriends house. I've also lived 5 minutes from the area for the last 20 years.

Almost every time I've pass by I've seen cars parked and people poking around. As well as myself and all my friends exploring the area more times than I count. If anyone wants to see the centrailia area or wheel some great off road spots or even carve some great back roads let me know. I'm always up to show people around.

I have an NBC rated gas mask and have worn it in Centralia in the past. It's not required unless you're going to be sticking your head into the vents, or be near a vent for a lengthy period of time. It's usually windy enough there to keep any concentration of gas in a fairly low ppm state.
