Gonna order one of these soon, sorta leaning towards the B&M, anyone dealt with them and their products?

So, Serpentine belt snapped Sunday night. Bearing in the belt tensioner pulley is shot, try to remove it, bolt snapped. So removed the whole tensioner, biggest PITA ever. Working on cars sucks. Nothing on this car is setup to be easy, not to mention everything breaks. Should be running and driving by Monday or Tuesday.

Well almost a month later the car is finally running and driving, everything went at once when the belt tensioner pulley went...also got the most rediculous snow tires ever. Will have pics when I get home today. Also the clutch is on its way out , nothing smells worse than the combination of a glasspack, burnt clutch, and burning antifreeze.

So I replaced the headlights they are the outside lights with Sylvania stock replacement housings and white Halogen bulbs. I removed the silver fender stripes and replaced them with driver side only purple stripes. Mocked the wheels up against the old ones and snagged a shot of the enormous snow tires on the back. Here is some of them and sorry, I'm no photographer.

Here is a pic of my new summer wheels, 17x8 or 17x8.5 not sure, bought them used with mismatched tires all with 70-90% tread left for 75 bucks. They are stacked up on a set of 15x8 cragers that I have for sale and my two summer 16 inch tires are there to. Soon I should be getting new pacesetter headers and re doing the exhaust to a side exit without the cat. Hopefully by this summer I will have my stage 1 comp cam and lsx valve springs and retainers done, along with a stage 1 or 2 clutch and a t5 B&M ripper short throw with an SLP leather shift knob. Within the next few weeks I am going to re do the headliner and fix the cracked dash pad.

Well big plans, saving up over the rest of the winter and collecting all the parts I'll need. Gonna build up the motor NA this spring. Going with the Abbot Racing NA cam, 105 lb springs and retainers, new double roller timing chain, and a cam install kit with all the gaskets and everything. Also planning on going with a stage 2 clutch kit. Will most likely have PCMforLess re-tune the car, and will most likely be going catless. I'll try and keep this updated and take photos of the parts as I get them.

Would it be cheaper swapping a LT1? i mean they surely can't be that expensive these days

Your gonna need lots of power before you need some slicks.

You mentioned that you tuned it for premium for a reason but didn't list a reason. I'm curious.

FYI, your Camaro stock is good for like low to mid 16s stock.... not even close to mid 14s. A V6 Camaro without so much money dumped into it(to the point it would of been better to just get a Z28 in the first place) is never really going to hold its own. Thats just life. On that note, I loved my 94 V6 that had the 3.4l.

i wouldnt even bother rewiring a lt1 when you can get the 4.8-6.0l truck motors for cheap anymore

Jpalamer, the car has all the basic bolt-ons, to better accept them I had it tuned to 91, my specific reason was in a pinch I could run 89, and I could also run 91, 92, or 93, in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre every gas station offers a different one. I have never ran 89 in it and usually run 92. Originally the car would occasionally knock on 87 even though that's what it is supposed to run stock, so I always wound up running 89 and figured why not tune the car for premium and a 180* thermo because these cars tend to run warm in the summer.

Granted those numbers were really optimistic, but guys have ran right around 15 in stock form with the 3.8l and the 3:42s. A few guys have run the same setup I'm going to with pacesetters or longtube headers and get into the 13's. Check out FullthrottleV6, these motors have potential and most guys with this cam and all the supporting mods land around mid 13's. Is it an LS1 no, but is it worth the 900 dollars it's going to cost me, yes. I save about 1k a year driving this car than I would driving an LS1 car. The only reason I was thinking of slicks is because some guys run them and they help the car hook up on the strip, and help improve 60 times. I'm just trying to sell the wheels now though. And I know the car is not a v8 monster or a twin turbo beast, but like you said, they are fun cars and I love mine.

OMGz Turbo, the cost of the LT1 isn't an issue, but I'd need to find a 6spd manual to swap in as well, along with the correct K-member and motor mounts and front suspension. All in all it would be more than 1k, which is my limit for the motor build.

Reds82, the LT1 came with the 93-97 cars, so the rewiring is minimal with the correct computer, however an LS1/LS2 and t56 will fit and work, because my car is not the 98-02, the entire vehicle would need to be rewired. It has been done, but I'm no mechanic, my buddy who is a mechanic is doing the work for 1/4 of the cost I was quoted on labor, and I'm going to lend him a hand.

Well, I have a dual A pillar gauge pod coming, and Prosport Vacuum and Air/Fuel Ratio gauges on the way, gotta love Amazon, total investment of about $120. Picking up a set of Eibach 1.5 inch drop springs barely used for $75 and a 1000 watt off brand amp in like new condition for 50 dollars. Gotta love craigslist too haha. So I will most likely upgrade my factory Bose system with an MTX sub and the JVC headunit I have sitting brand new in my room. Will post pics when I get/install.

Don't waste your money on the v6 unless your going to boost the **** out of it.

My buddy has had 2 v6 camaros. Both which he put money into and blew the motors and now they sit. I think he spent 2-2500 both times on the actual car and at least another 3 on mods, motors, fuel pumps, rears and what have you. For that price he could e in a z28. He finally wised up and bought a semi built firebird with a v8.
End rant.

Don't dump enough cash into this to make it as fast as an ls1 when you could of saved and got an ls1.

3800 series II and III v6's are bulletproof, and how does it make sense to boost the **** out of an NA motor and expect it to not break, but properly building an NA motor up with a light cam and rebuilding/replacing the top half of the motor with a proper tune isn't worth it?

BTW, for all future comments, I will have a total investment of under $1,000 dollars. That includes: cam, valve springs and retainers, timing chain, entire gasket kit and all hardware/parts involving the top half of the motor replaced, new tune and labor. I'm not counting the basic stuff I have done, because I will and do that to every car such as different muffler/cai/etc. I'm lightly building this by saving $50 dollars a week, it'll be finished hopefully by the summer.

Find me a clean, very good condition, fully loaded, 6 speed manual, LT1, 1 owner, t-top, 72k, clean title 1996 Camaro for exactly $5,800. And that price needs to include fresh inspection, detail, and 6 month warranty, all from a trusted dealer. Because that would be 1k over what I payed for it about 1 year ago, and that would be the exact same way I got it.

Not trying to be a ****, but I'm so sick of these stupid comments, read why I bought the v6, insurance is about a 1k difference per year from v6 to v8 car. Not to mention I get better gas mileage driving to school/work everyday.
