They're just so darn cute! My uncle had a mix... and you could tell there was a little shiba inu or akita in him. He looked like a fox and was so playful and awesome.

The one's I'm seeing online at breeders are like anywhere from $400 to $1k. But, breeders are usually expensive. I'm trying to find one at the SPCA or something. I'd love to get a rescue too.

me and my wife would love to rescue one too. we went to the animal shelter in OCNJ last year and almost rescued a Shepherd.

Aww that's great. I got the dog I have now at the SPCA. we were just going to look, but she curled up in my lap and we just knew that was a sign to take her home! She's turning 13 on March 1st!

I need to go to the SPCA and look around. a dog for my birthday would be amazing.

Hes really good with people and other pets, but likes to attack other male dogs... not viciously but he likes to play rougher with them.

Average price for a true Shiba is 800-1000 range but they are well worth it. Long life spans and theyre very loyal!

thanks. yeah you dont come by them often out of japan. they are a protected Japanese national monument so its illegal to export them, however there are 2 breeders outside of japan one them being in the US. I like the shiba's alot also i am curious to see if their temperament is close to my dog

And like someone else said, they can be very good, friendly dogs. BUT, make sure you properly socialize and train him! They're super smart but can be stubborn, so start training young.
