It's not just like saying those things. "Ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly be wise." I guess that holds true since you have to actually know some basic history to be offended.

Like any other racial slur, it's the tone and context in which it's said that determines its semantics. Still, it is considered a racial slur. Perhaps you say it casually with no intent on connecting negative connotations, but after hearing it with hatred in the tone I don't appreciate hearing the term in general. I guess that makes me selfish and an attention whore then?
