sorry, in my line of work i'm used to everyone being an "expert" and deciding on "rules" for the internet ;)

the social disconnect created by technology, despite how well it really connects people socially, is alarming.

I've never had a facebook and never knew how to ''use it''. I signed up last month not knowing how to even work my way around it. Since then (1 month now), I've made almost $20,000 from people who have added me on their page, and bought cars/parts, ETC off of me in the last month. It is a very good site for people who want to promote their business to millions of people worldwide, Believe it or not. Myspace useto be the same way (sold 6+ cars on there, And tons of parts, To people on my ''friend list''). Now that myspace died out, I tried facebook, and it has worked great. There are tons of younger kids on facebook, And a ton of car enthusiasts, So when ever I list something, One of them see's it, And it usually sells the same day. Just my .02cents. Enough typing, Now my post is starting to sound like one of those infomericals.

I equate the computer to asking a friend to ask another friend whats up. Its a social middle man and gives a false sense of connection to others. However, I would use it as a tool to communicate with people to later, meet them face to face.

i've gotten a large amount of hits on my personal site just from integrating facebook with it. I have no doubt that integrating social mediums such as facebook into websites will result in an increase in sales. facebook is an amazing marketing tool.

Facebook is great for marketing, and if Zuckerberg does what he intends to do then it will be somewhat revolutionary. Besides email blasts, I use Facebook for my family's restaurant to generate sales. We get special items weekly, so when they come in I post on Facebook that they are in and people respond. Last week we got a shipment of 10 live uni, I posted it on Facebook, and they were sold out by the end of the night. Half of the people that came in for them said they saw the Facebook post. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Haddon...9962512?ref=ts

Zuckerberg plans on making it so that everything is more integrated, and things are already moving towards that. Foursquare and these apps that show where people are is great for the place they're at. I read that Zuckerberg wants to make it so that if someone says they're going to a restaurant other people can make reservations for that place via Facebook in real time, so it'd kind of be like an Open Table, except it'd have the social aspect.

Facebook ads themselves are a great tool if utilized correctly. First of all, you can specify exactly who sees the ad. It will target people within a certain radius, age, gender, and it also looks for interests. So if I want to find people who like sushi I can find everyone within a 15 mile radius who have "sushi" as an interest. One flaw of general marketing is the wasted money spent on advertising to people who are not prospects (like a TV ad--obviously not everyone is interested). With Facebook it's targeting that specific prospect client.

Fortune favors the bold.

I've met a few girls off of Facebook. From a marketing standpoint it's great because you're meeting people you would have never otherwise met in real life, so that's creating opportunity. But there's nothing really like mustering up the balls to approach a stranger in real life. It's more rewarding because it displays tons of confidence. Also, so much of what communication is comprised of is lost through texting and Facebook. Emphatic gestures, voice tonality, sarcasm--they're all missing.

I hate people that change their actual name to some alias like "Bright Sky."

If I have to wonder who the f*ck you are each time I see your status update, we're clearly not that close of friends. Aaaand goodbye.
