Wicen's is great. Went there one time and had an awesome experience. It does cost about $30 the first time you go, but that's it!

Membership is $15-20 and they give you a sign-off badge. So, they watch you shoot on each range you want, and when they see you know what you're doing they sign you off and you don't need supervision for future visits. And, all of the employees were extra friendly and will tell you things about your own guns that you didn't even know. They even go out of the way to take your gun apart and make sure everything is cranking fine internally so there are no chances for problems if you're uneasy/unsure about your own equipment.

After you pay the one-time membership fee it's only $5 per range you want to use. So, if you're only doing pistol... you pay 5 bucks, clay-pigeons... 5 bucks, rifle range... you get the idea.

So, if you do all three you're looking at 15 bucks, or as low as 5 if just one. Plus, they have a wide variety of targets on site to buy and they allow anything but fully-automatics. Only rule with semi-auto is wait 3-5 seconds between shots.

I went during the week and had a very helpful experience due to the lack of other shooters there, but I'd imagine they pick up on weekends.

that's a big problem for me and many other people. i'm not at all interested in '10 ring' shooting, but rather defensive handgun techniques. to blindly limit all shooters to one shot every 3-5 seconds is just stupid. if you're acting irresponsibly and shooting erratically, then yeah you should be limited or just removed from the premises. if you're double tapping within a few inches at 5-7 yards, why the limit?

seems a lot of ranges are only interested in broad 'bans' on certain weapons (NFA items) or techniques rather than allow those same things for the people who know what they're doing, and that sucks. lol

i don't know if that applies for semi-auto pistols... but, my friend had an ak-47 that was semi so i know for sure they regulate bigger guns like that. don't know what their pistol policy is, though.

well the 2 people who voted for the 28th are SOL I guess.

Can we change the poll to include Sept 25th, give this thread one more week, and just go with the date with the most votes at the end of the week?

Did we even settle on a range? I think I'd rather go inside and/or pay than have to deal with a SGL range.

indoor is fine with me, as is the date. I see you broke the tie.

who else can make it for the 11th?

we can rent MP5s at CPI can't we? I've never been there. A group of us pooling some money into a pile of 9mm should liven up the party.

Hey guys,

Sorry Ive been MIA. Moved back to school last week and things have been kinda crazy.

Im down for whatever whenever. I just wanted to go ahead and get this set in motion already. If we can reach a date that works for everyone indoors or not then Im down.

Dave, Go ahead and see what CP says. I just thought Cabelas would be cool for anyone who hasnt had a chance to see that place yet and to buy ammo. Although usually I end up walking out with a new gun when I go.

Its really up to you guys.

You can absolutely rent MP5's, you have to use their ammo which can get pricey, but i get 10% off, so it offsets it a little bit...

waiting on a call back from bob (owner or CPI) he should get back to me today or tomorrow, i dont see why it would be an issue though.

that's sweet, I didn't figure an indoor range would let you shoot rifle calibers.

That sounds perfect to me. Especially with an "in" like cmr076. (thanks!)

Now we just need a cut off date for the poll. Whoever voted for the 28th needs to vote again 'cause that date passed already.

ok.

So, CPI called me back. apparently "we dont normally do this on a saturday, but since you guys are such good customer, etc. etc. we will"

the dates they gave me that they are not doing security training are:

9/25
9/26
10/2
10/3
10/9
10/10

JORDAN

i asked about NFA just for you, they said just bring the papers and for us they will break their "cardinal rule" and you can bring the belt fed if you want... i would just say no 50bmg, if the lapua is no fun to shoot there i doubt the barrett would be.

if any of those dates work i need to let them know as well as a definite on who is in, i dont want them to shut down an entire room of bays for me and have 3 people show up.

I'm in 100% as long as it's not the weekend of the 2nd. Got a wedding to attend that day.
