What's a rotard? "Often used to describe a person who is obsessed with the Wankel design rotary engine, and usually Mazda RX7s in particular, to the point of total stupidity."

Anyone think this could be due to a failing fuel pump? The way the AFR is I mean.

Through a series of reflashes done by a TX company

there's your problem with the AFR, from lea level, to humidity, to specific coil dwells and each injectors latency and unmatched flow rate makes a mail tune hard. Mail tunes are hit or miss, I would only use one to get a car up and running to get it on a dyno to get a real time tune. The AFR is leaning out too hard

We are working together to send info back and forth and through a series of reflashes, kind of inconvenient in the shortrun, but its got good results when all said and done.

When you say reflash are they sending you a file or are you mailing the ECU back and forth.... I dunno sounds like a horrible idea to have to hop on a dyno and check their tune, and redo until correct. 4 things kill cars, poor maintenance, oiling issue, cooling issue, and bad tunes. The last thing you should be doing is ripping on a dyno full boost without a means to correct on the fly.

I know I know but that's what this is. Start dyno at stock.boost, check afr. Then turn the boost up and.check.that afr. Slow process. If my pump IS going bad, it would make sense looking at the graph. I'll wait to hear from them to see what to do.

Any other ideas on the AFR? I think my fuel pump might be going, going to do a pressure test obviously. I don't want to go ahead and get another flash yet because if there is a problem, it will be adjusted around the problem so when I do fix it, it's gonna ruin the entire tune.

Mail order tunes are good for mild bolt ons at best. Def get a real tune.

Just an FYI, I think you can data log fuel pressure/flow rates with a bluetooth OBD2 transmitter and the Torque app on an iPhone/Andriod phone.

Apparently in my car the ECU doesn't monitor those properties in Open Loop..weird I know.

A "real" tune would require a Hydra ECU or XEDE Piggyback which is 1400 at the least. Megasquirt is the cheapest option at 1200. People have had good luck with this, just takes time, plus in my case there might be other things going on causing the AFR to be that way. Nobody with this chip has had that kind of graph before.

Even if your ECU doesn't moniter it... the sensors should still be reading data that can be sent to the phone. Its worth a shot. If you were closer I'd be willing to try and graph it for you.

I keep forgetting how spoiled I am with HP Tuners working for just about every car I've modded.

Decided to just invest in one of these

Should be installed today, already have the bung for it and all. Unfortunately it didn't come with a white face so I messaged the vendor, I hope I get one cause that's really what I want. We'll see how it reads though, at least with the gauge in I can drive the car and monitor this stuff on my own instead of having to run somewhere all the time.

All new brakes sitting in my room yet to be installed, maybe next week if the weather allows it on my day off. They should definitely feel better, I'm still on stock never-cut 75k mile rotors and 3 year old pads.

Wideband is in and the readings are much better, but still need to be corrected some.

At 10psi I hold 12.5AFR to redline
At 11psi I hold 12.8-13.0 to redline

I'm not sure if I'm going to turn it up to 12 on the dyno yet to log it so they can adjust or wait until its safer.

Dude the funny thing is I saw you walking between some of the cars, and I thought it was you but I wasn't sure and wasn't gonna run up and go "are you Tyler?" haha. Thanks man! I didn't even get a good look at your car on your way in.

I dunno who you were hanging out there with but some guys were looking at my car and we were standing like 10 feet away and one of my friends said something to the effect of "don't look so hard its not even fast" to which the other guy proceeded to talk about how my air filter was dirty? I thought it was pretty funny cause it's just red, was that your boy?

Not feelin too good right now. Among doing all this stuff recently I have been neglecting to check my oil (it was low today). Heard a tapping today at work and it def sounds like bottom end. Added a quart of oil to get the level up and it got quieter but still there very faintly. It doesn't tap at idle but when I give it light throttle and hold the RPM I can hear it. Taking the thing to a shop to have testing done to see what I need, but I'm already kind of expecting to have to drop a new engine in. A huge brain-fart on my part. I don't know exactly how long the car was running with low oil, haven't checked in a while (stupid I know)

Not sure what to do with the car until I find out the results but it kind of doesn't make sense to sell it if it indeed does need an engine because of the hit I'm going to take on the car. I have the money to put a new engine in but not sure if I want to spend that right now so it might just end up as a garage queen for a while

This could end up a good opportunity to build a new engine for the car with stronger internals, swap in a 13b rotary, or put it away for a few years and LS3 it when I finish school.
