That package is also high on my list. Probbably do that, the brakes, and chill on the mods till I have another craving. Just not sure what im going to get yet, brands wise.

My buddy just got the flyin miata frame rails and butterfly brace. Car is literally like a go-cart now. He is buying new rubber now to help, because thats the only thing limiting him. Car is coming along awesome, glad to see it running so well. Just know that door bars make it a pain in the ass to get in and out of the car with the top up. They do stiffen the body though and I think they are worth it, but they come with cons. If my opinion counts, ide add the Flyin Miata frame rails and the "Frog Arms". These provide vertical AND horizontal stiffening and do not effect the small interior space of the NB. They arent hard to install and are well worth it. With the Frame rails and frog arms, your car would feel SO tight. The Arms also help reduce the dash rattle that Miatas commonly have. (Not sure if its big an issue on the NB as it is on the NA). Ide start with those two things, and then add the cross brace for the frame rails underneath if you want even more.

Frog arms get mixed reviews, low on my list till I do more research. The fm package looks good and I can get new rotors and fluid and lines from 949 for a good deal. May just end up doung that.

From what ive read and heard from some guys who run them, is that they arent very noticeable unless you have other bracing done. If you just add the Frog Arms, it isnt a great upgrade. But paired with a butterfly brace and sways; they really help tie everything together. Good luck with whatever you decide on.

My best was a 58.99x, car has a LOT more IMO but seeing as this was my second time out, it was fine. First run I took out almost the entire first slalom, second run I spun going into the first offsets, third was a 61 second that I'd like to forget, and 4th was my fast time and also when I lost my 3rd gear.

Going transmission shopping ASAP, pretty sure my synchro 2nd to 3rd has dissolved completely because anything over 3000rpm shifts grind, double clutching does not help either. Was a really fun day though! Some pix.

First run slalom

The mess I made

Taking off for run 2, you can kinda see some debris behind my rear wheels, I was really happy with the launch and pissed when I spun it around

Tires after I drove home, still packed with rocks.

New setup performed really well, first 2 runs were skittish, then I borrowed someone's tire gauge and realized they were at 37psi, dropped it to 30 and the car felt worlds better. In conclusion, this was the most expensive autocross I've done.

looks like a lot of fun. The expensive part is why I haven't autox'd yet and probably won't this season. Good luck with the transmission.

Expensive being I tacked on at least $1,000 for a new gearbox haha. The 5 speeds don't have the same problem and a 5-speed swap is also an option for me. The shifter action on the 6 speeds is garbage and causes you to miss 3rd often when you're in a hurry. Someone just released a new shifter that fixes the problem and I was just about to order it but it was backordered. Probbably could have saved my transmission but too late for that now. I will get the shifter with the new transmission so I don't have to do this again.

Also just found this after another 30 miles of driving.

If anyone knows of a Miata 6-speed floating around please let me know! I am also pretty interested in swapping to a 5-speed to get my gearing a little longer so I'm open to one of those under 100k miles.

That blows about the trans. I'd give Planet Miata a call and see what they have.

http://www.planet-miata.com/index.php?section=31630995 --Trans prices are towards the bottom.

And a 58.99 is pretty damn good for your second event. (This was also my second event, my best time was a 62.10, which I definitely could have improved on, but my pressures were way high for my last run and I was sliding all over).

What's the expensive part? As long as your car is in good mechanical condition nothing should go wrong. I've done two events, and the only money I've spent is on registration ($45 and $50) and gas (maybe $10).

It's quite rare to break stuff at an autocross. If your car is in good running condition, tires are the only item that will suffer faster wear than normal street driving. And with the street tire index in philly region, you can even be competitive on a budget these days.

100% truth. When I first started driving my old NA, I missed 3rd a few times; even in regular day to day driving I would miss it sometimes. During spirited driving you really have to focus on getting third, or you WILL miss it. I have never had that problem in any other car I've driven.

I broke my T56 autocrossing once.... but it was under warranty. How much is a performance rebuild on that? You sure the syncros are shot, or could it just be the pads on the shift forks?
