One from the GV Open House.

The car and I hit a 2 year anniversary only about a week ago, 30k+ miles later, this is what it's become. Also had Good Vibes put in a new headunit today, direct iPod/iPhone control, I gotta say, USB sound quality blows CDs out of the water, my BOSE speakers that I was thinking of replacing sound amazing now with this new unit. Lovely! Went with the Kenwood Excelon KDC-x592, gotta get used to the layout and everything else but the sound quality is lovely. USB/iPod jack in the glovebox, now I gotta revive my oil 4 gig nano, fill it with music, and keep it in the car for entertainment, too big of a PITA having to plug and unplug the iPhone all the time.

Thats interesting because usually people (audiophiles) SWEAR by CD quality over mp3 anyday from what ive read/seen

I have the same song (Eminem and Lil Wayne - No Love) on a cd and my iPod, more-so using the same exact file. The CD it sounds a bit muffled, the USB it's crisp, clean, and the bass hit's much better.

It's just a regular 80 minute CD, not sure what quality it's burned at but from what I've read, USB is the best source for input because it gives you the most sound quality (maybe they were comparing it to a regular AUX input 3.5mm jack).

LOL cds are uncompressed digital lossless format...with 0 connections in between (no cords/cables).

USB is transmitting a compressed lower fidelity signal (i.e. mp3). Any sound quality difference is likely due to a better signal processor or poorly setup eq.

You are thinking aux input jack, that's an analog signal and even more subject to noise/interference/lousy connections.

Though 99.99% of people can no way tell the difference between an mp3 (128 kbs or above) or uncompressed CD quality provided the signal processing is done the same (your radio does it differently for CD vs usb in)

back to the thread...

paint that stuff you scraped or your car will fall apart from rust in a few years, particularly the frame rails.

I think you need a little spacer in the rear to kick them out a bit.

I just wanted to get the car low, they were cheap and reviews were decent so I decided to get em...next up are BC Racing coilovers though, 32 way adjustment, seperate collar for lowering vs. preloading, and only a sticker of around $1000, they should ride like I want, and handle well at the same time.

$80 for the headunit, 30 for adapter and mounting kit, 55 for install (I've installed em before but I generally hate wiring so it was worth the price not having to do it myself).

No spacers, I like the stance as is...trying to find a happy medium between this ricey look and performance, spacers will only make that harder IMO.

Thanks for the clarification. As far as frame rails, thanks for reminding me cause it's one of those things that happens but you don't really think about it till someone brings it up. I'll probbably go over them with undercoating or POR-15.

lol.... usb is no more of a digital input then a cd dude... what matters is the quality of music that you feed through it. a audio CD is usually around 320KPBS. That means every second of audio carryies about 320k. The average MP3 file is around 160-190KBPS. that is much lower.... I think you're insane unless youre playing lossless audio files through the head unit... Unless you're head unit supports FLAC or any other encoding then mp3 and wma... I think you're craazzyyyyyyyyyy

Now... USB may have better quality then an analog stereo input cable... Like Mini Stereo for a mp3 player....

It sounds real good...crisp, easier to tune. Dunno why, but I'm not complaining. Just repeating what I heard somewhere else about this stuff, must have been analog vs. USB.

Now I'm thinking about a small stereo for the car...8" sub, some door speakers, but it's really fine now...should just finish saving for those BCs.

i like this miata a lot. if you're looking for a small sub then check this out: http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_1...v3.html?tp=112

i have it in my s2000 and it provides more than enough bump. not the best video since the iphone distorts the bass but its clean, loud and deep. make sure you mate it up to a good amp to get the most out of it. mine is hooked up to a jl 500/1 v1 amp
