I'm an architectural engineering major, standard time for the degree is 5 years, with 4 years of "internship" after I graduate and grad school while not required, is almost a given. First day of engineering class, we went through all the different degrees in the science field, architectural engineering is said to be the second hardest of them all, biochemical being the first. If that information, and schedule alone isn't enough to kill my motivation than I don't know what is, but I'm still determined to go forward with it. Oh, and I'm also required to complete 30 credits in math courses alone....most degrees require 3-9 math credits to graduate.
I kinda wish i went the engineering route...I'm a numbers/science person, not just numbers. I have a lot of friends at Drexel doing every imaginable branch of engineering and they're always doing stuff that interests me a lot more.

then change majors and do something more interesting than finance, which no one in this country is capable of managing anyway

That's part of what I hate about education. Sometimes, you have awesome teachers that really know how to present the information, and sometimes you get ****ty teachers that have no idea what they're doing. That's the problem I had in high school.

Finance is anything but uninteresting right now.

But if i could do it all over, i'd most likely go to Lehigh and do civil. They offered me quiet a bit.

Well apparently he worked in the field..

but I swore I only learned **** maybe first week or so..(only a class or so a week) then it was same BS over and over.. nothing new and I knew there was alot more to it so I was like WTF. He also presented it in a way, such that, I lost interest.

right... but captain said anything over an hour a day is "wrong"... your 12 hours on a single day doesn't even average out to one hour a day even if you only work one day for 12 hours.

fact of the matter is, an average of one hour a day in out of class work does not seem sufficient enough time spent studying for any field worth a damn. You're not going to be the best unless you put in the effort, you're not going to stand out amongst the crowd of tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of others graduating with the same degree.

Not to mention additional work in internships and other things within your field of study that will help promote you in the eyes of potential employers.

Sorry if i'm being a douche bag, but i've seen both sides of the coin between working hard while in school and hardly working while in school. College is as much about partying and enjoying life as it is growing up and taking responsibility for your own future.

too many college students just expect to walk out of college and make some bank b/c they've got some piece of paper. Its just not the case when you're just another face in the crowd.

I agree with all of that. Of course you have to make yourself stand out. I've already put my work in doing volunteer work/ student government/ blah blah blah. Along side of school, I also work 30hr/wk doing accounting work, bolstering my degree.

When I say 1hr a day, i mean in general work. When i have a test or paper due, sure I'll spend 7-8 hours straight doing it. That's to be expected.

I dont think you're being a douche bag, I understand what you're saying and I get it. There are some people that argue that you HAVE to study for one hour per class per day and blah blah. I'm on a 9 year plan here, I know I've gotta bust my ass and just ask my friends on here, I work as hard as I play and I earn everything I have. I've seen a lot of kids hit that point where all they do is party and they ruin their futures. It sucks, but that's their decision.

LOL @ walking out and making bank. I wish it worked that way haha

Sadly I think most schools are like that nowadays.
