my MR2 throttle used to stick... then I WD40'd the throttle body lol

If you are on the throttle, you can't always use the brakes. The GTO has the opposite of this actually, we can't do a burnout without moving, the ECU will cut fuel and throttle. It is a 'safety' feature. Brake on = no throttle.

I don't know the reasons why they are not working for Toyota, but even tring to blame the drivers is just ignorant as most people here wouldn't know how to react in weird situations. You don't have to be mechanically included to drive, so it is only logical that people will panic when this happens. This would be no different then a solder going to combat and freezing up when something crazy happens. Until you have gone through it once, you don't know how you will react. And you aren't other people.

I don't have that problem. I think it was only the 05-2006s(drive by wire) but it is easy to disable. My rear tires wish I had it though.

I don't think it is being ignorant. Take in account many other things that those idiotic drives do, how they handle themselves in severe weather, etc.
