i just did that to mine last week, 221k and never been cleaned till me.

for the record, my old wrx had the throttle get stuck on me. and i did the same thing. as soon as i noticed that i was gaining alot of speed uphill i clutched in and the rpms jumped to about 6500... did i crash? no, i put it in nuetral and shut off. why do these people have zero understanding of the machine they control.

exactly. how does someone not realize to put it into neutral and shut it off and hit the brakes.

i wonder the same thing too..my teacher had mentioned the issue in class about a couple of months ago and asked what we would do in the situation and i said put the car in neutral and shut it off, and he was shocked that i knew to do that . i was like umm, no it's pretty much common sense .

that doesnt make sense first off, secondly these arent fast cars so to accelerate to such a high speed before you make an attempt is about as retared as the philly race scene since 1996

well for the record i haven't experienced this problem, nor do i think any of us have and I highly doubt that a forum of young adults is going to come up with the solution when highly paid engineers are struggeling with this same problem. I agree it makes no sense, i think that's part of the problem. which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.

"whats the difference between reality and fiction? Fiction has to make sense"

Most automatic cars will not allow you to go into reverse above a certain speed. So put it into reverse all you want, nothing will happen.

seriously people have enough time to call 911 they should be able to figure out atleast shutting it off and putting it into neutral. and if its accelerating by itself that gives you 2 feet to slam on the brakes which should bring the speed down. this whole situation is so ridiculous and blown out of proportion.
