I am Michaels brother. Something happened to make him go out of control. Was he speeding? Yes, I'm sure he was. He loved to drive fast and did it mostly on the track. He took his evo to atco many times and we both took a course at Pocono Raceway two summers ago. He was a great driver, he wasn't stupid. Not sure what happened and I'm not blaming anyone for his actions. Maybe the truck came into his lane, I've had this happen to me multiple times on the northeast extention. The driver didn't even signal! Maybe it was the road condition, I know it was damp out. Someone on here mentioned the dif locking up and making the evo go out of control. Could have been a tire blew out, we won't know until the state troopers finish the investigation. It may take 12 weeks they say. I know for a fact Michael only had one beer that night from a friend that was with him right before they left the BYOB gentalmens club they were at. Michael didn't drink much anymore because he was on a strict diet. He loved his body and worked out religously everyday. They had beer in the car because of the BYOB. Speeding is bad, do yourself a favor and slow down. I sold my WRX the day after my second son was born, it was too easy to go fast. Jay was Michaels best friend and my moms neighbor for many years and he was a great guy. Bill I didn't know that well but I know he looked up to Michael. Pat I met once when we all went to the gun range, he was a very nice guy and let me try his guns. It's so hard to loose someone you love, I am a mess and trying to hold it together. Michael and I were very close and he was the best man at my wedding. We always had this competition with cars, I would buy something fast and he would always one up me. In his best man speech he added that his car was faster than mine. Michael was very loved, over 400 people showed up to pay their respects. Thank you to all! Say what you want, but remember we all do stupid things in life. RIP brother, you will be missed!

The average eye witness testimony is fairly useless. A lot prudes out there have a fit for passing their ass doing 60 in the left lane in the middle lane at 68 and flash their high beams. That right there would make that eyewitness say "high rate of speed and darting between lanes" when the reality is he could have been driving pretty civilly. That said in this case, I suspect he was flying - just gut feeling. But you can't discount mechanical failure. Busted tie rod, locked transfer case etc.

Thats pretty bad. I guess the driver didnt have much of a chance looked like the passengers did though. Either he was flying or he drove head first into the side of a cliff.

Why the **** would somebody try and sell something like that. That is disrespectful to the family and a complete joke. Four people died in that. NOT COOL

i don't see anything wrong with an insurance company getting rid of junk vehicles they own via auctions... regardless of how that vehicle ended up being trashed

I agree, business is business but sometimes you have to have common sense and proper business ethics.

How so? What about houses where people are murdered inside...should they be demolished to show respect for the family?

Sorry, but I really don't see how selling the car that they no longer even own is at all disrespectful to the family. It's just a car. Whether or not someone died in it doesn't make a difference.

It's not disrespectful to the family at all. It'd be one thing if they were like "Buy something off of it and own a piece of one of the people that died inside of the car!"

Realistically what is anyone going to do with a car like that? There is not a single thing useable on it. Its like beating a dead horse.

Scrap metal, spare parts...I see at least two usable Brembos. And chop-shops can use that VIN.
