Yeah, easy to say you'll do brakes for lunch money etc etc but its at a shop which has to pay the bills and charge normal rates. Its easy for any of us to sit in a chair in front of our computers and critique, but like pina just said, without having the car in front of you its futile.

With that said... we are not taking interviews for those who know their way around the Eco 2.2 engine and have experience with diagnostics and/or timing belt / tensioner change. Lets get this thing back on the road already, and without putting the azn sensation in the poor house.
Any takers? AWD GS? Anyone else?

Also for the Eco experts... is this an interference or non-interference engine? If timing is off one or two teeth is the car driveable?

Good post. Thats what I was trying to get across but didn't wanna be a dick. There is no way to fix this car over the internet. If one of you guys wanna help her go ahead. Me personally I dont like working for free. **** they only charged you $414. At lexus thats how much front pads and re-surfacing rotors cost.

Okay here's the final breakdown....

P0300 - Random Clyinder Misfire Detected
P0304 - Cylinder #4 Misfire detected
Complete fuel & electrical systems performance
Check - test fuel pressure, ignition system and injector pulse
Compression test all cylinders
Engine vacuum is low
Remove valve cover to inspect timing marks
AC Double Platnum spark plug
Remove & replace front disc brake pads
Clean/Lube Slides & Hardware
Install New Disc Brake Rotors
Clean & adjust rear brake system
Ate premium front disc brake pads
Disc brake rotor
Change oil, filter, top off all fluids & check air in tires
Lube, oil and filter special

Spark & injector pulse was good - #3 and #4 spark plugs were cracked
Intake cam timing is off 1 tooth - timing
Chain was rattling on start up before oil change - quiet now

$413.44

He recommended I get rid of the car because it's just going to get progressively worse and it's a slow and tedious fix because the water pump is inside the engine? So yeah, he basically said either take lots of time and get it fixed or get a different car. I think I'll go with the latter.

You probably dont have the answer to this question but what were the results of the compression test? Why would the engine vacuum be low?
Not sure why anything would slowly get worse unless the compression test turned up something bad. Water pump, timing belt, tensioner... its just part of major maintenance and is normal.

timing being off would cause the engine to not read a normal vacuum.

cheer yourself up by coming to the best buy meet tomorrow, its gonna one of the warmest meets of the winter

Anyway. I just wanted to man up and apologize for what I did. I was a complete @$$hole. I talked to John today, and told him I was WAY out of line. He and you guys had every right to be mad at me, and what I did/said. Truth be told, I feel really bad about it; as I should. Again man, im sorry for what I said. Just uncalled for, and plain out wrong.

He said the timing chain and tensioner would just progressively get worse.

And he said the compression test went fine.

haha well if your timing chain is off a tooth i'm almost positive you are going to get bad compression test results it might be different with your motor, which I know nothing about.

thanks i know that. as i said in my first post in this thread if she is serious i have no problem helping to work on it. like i mentioned i use to be in (well still am) part of the jbody community and have worked on them for a number of years. the 2.2 eco i cant really answer questions on since i dont know that motor all to well. im more familiar with the 2.2 2200 ohv and the 2.4 ld9 motor. im sure i can find someone within a 30 min drive that can help fix the motor problem.

as far as brakes, i have no problem doing them for cheap. i could use a few extra bucks and brakes on a jbody take about a half hour total. of course like you and troll said, anyone can say **** on the internet. i actually love working on suspensions and brakes.

oh btw, front brakes are free at lexus thanks to a tsib (atleast for the 3rd gen GS') thats actually where my car is at now

let me read through some post in the morning on the jbody site and ill see if i can help pin point a problem a little more.

Well, I appreciate the help/suggestions/advice from everyone. Like pina said, I know it's hard to diagnose over the internet without my car being right in front of you.. but I do appreciate any and all ideas anyone threw at me.

I don't have the money to get it fixed and they said it would take a while because my water pump is set up in a more difficult location than other cars or something

Hahaha yea gotta love the GS brake squeel. I don't mind tho, warranty pays more than cash for brakes. Warranty is 2.2 and cash pays 2.0.

edit: Another team is working on your car now. Gonna start pulling the dash out. These dash rattles suck!!!
