He said it had something to do with me not being religious enough with oil changes?

Hey if you wanna talk to the dude and ask him yourselves go right ahead because I have no friggen idea.

What they did:
Changed brake pads/rotors
Changed oil
Changed sparkplugs
Checked for VAC leaks
Checked motor mounts
Checked the CEL - came up with P0300 and 1441
Ran a compression test
Thought it was a fuel injector problem
Cleaned the fuel injector
Decided it wasn't enough, ordered a new one
Installed it, didn't fix the problem
Took the valve cover off
Etc., etc..........which led them to their conclusion of timing chain skipping a tooth or something

if you need help working on the cavalier let me know seriously. i know a few people including myself around the delco area that can do just about any type of work on those cars. i got a buddy who lives in ridley that can more than likely replace the chain for you. is it the 2.2 eco motor? i use to have a cavalier and spent a good 5 years working on them.

Heres a food for thought. Cleanneon had an issue with misfire on cylinder 4. He gapped his spark plug from .35 to .30 and it stopped misfiring. Maybe you should get the car back and have the spark plugs checked and regapped. Second, do Cavi's have two coil packs or how is there ignition system setup?

Wow talk about bull****. It skipping a tooth would cause other cylinders to have issues.

Right but if the side electrode is gapped to far from the center electrode than the spark will be lost causing a misfire.

do you have the car home now or is it still at the shop?? id find a GM mechanic that knows the Ecos really good and ask that person , these small shops dont know enough. i highly dout that the Chain will jump tooth that easy, i know belts do , but not a Chain plus the Eco has a tensioner for the timing chain.

I know in 12v VR6's they have plastic tensioners guides and they tend to break before the chain does. This causes jumped teeth and f'd heads.

You guys need to stop playing mechanic over the internet. There is no way to fix the car without it being in front of you
