If anybody can help me out with my Monte Carlo issue. New starter works but ran into other issue on way home....

By the way, had this issue before but not as bad, but yesterday when I didn't get very far, all of a sudden the car shut off on me. Straight up cut off and showed the volt symbol for low voltage. I give it a minute and the thing starts up right away and gets me along on my dandy way. Again I've had this issue before but not completely shutting off, it just cut off real quickly and came back on. Could it be a bad ground? No codes are thrown.

Make sure you have clean terminals and the wires going to the battery are clean and have good contact. You would be amazed at what some corrossion can do, especially in the winter when batteries are typically weaker. I'd also use a volt meter and make sure your alternator is putting out what it should. I'm not very good with electric but this is hopefully a start.

rob, pop the alternator out and take it to vatozone or some place like that and have them test it. the voltage regulator may be shot or something. when was the last time you replaced the battery?

Battery and alternator are both only 1.5 years old at most. It gets power fine, doesn't throw codes, just will randomly cut off and come back on, but last night completely shut off on me. I'm driving the mustang the rest of the week, but just trying to figure out what could be causing that. Jay I will have to check on some of those wires.

I've seen alternators new out of the box not work properly, especially referbs. One time my dad literally got 3 in a row for Autozone that didn't put the right voltage out.

same with my dad and one of his old pick up trucks. i'll tell you what though, swapping the alternator in a 300ci straight 6 f150 takes a whole 4 min.

i had history of western civ 2 semesters ago 7-10. I'm not jealous of your morning! hope you have some good distractions!

Only thing that makes me think it isn't that is because it wasn't like slowly killing the battery. It's like a sudden jerk. Maybe I will just check the the connections to be sure and see if they have come loose. I don't want to start throwing money into this car after it was a cheap one to begin with.

I wish I knew how to understand wire diagrams haha.

or he can barely stay awake during his own lecture because he knows how terrible the material is...

i hated history. never once understood why it was a requirement for my business degree. The only thing i found remotely helpful was the geography sections that were added to each test. Either way though, I dont need to know every country in Africa or the Middle East for my career. My company doesn't invest in mortgages over there...
