I had the same thing happen but mine was the result of a warped head. Time for a rebuild!

Thanks to Rob for the trans! took the FS ad down, i'm going to make her into my mistress now. Thanks for the vote of confidence and helping me change my mind on parting it out!

on the plus side, its a great time to get all the dumb maintenance **** done when you have the head off. Water pump, timing belt, head gasket. That's a good chunk of maintenance on DSMs to knock out at the same time. It will save you some trouble down the road.

ill try some marvel mystery oil as per Robs suggestion since i bought the engine from him, but i already have the breaking up solved and should have the tune finalized on 12psi tonight then ill be turning up the boost and retuning at the track tomorrow

I wouldn't really call what I did a tune, I just corrected the air/fuel so he didn't completely blow his **** up since he was running a 13.4 at WOT. It is what it is though, let him find someone who will call me a "noob" and charge him to "tune" a vehicle that has problems just to get some money.

You live and learn, I wish you luck.

Hey haveblue (rob?) Can you take a gander at these items I'm posting up? First one is the shot of the Pressure plate that came off the clutch I just took off the car today. Let me know what you think, and anything I should be aware of (as i've never even seen one of these in person until today) like what things mean what in regards to mechanics (like gouging is a result of blank.. ) Thanks brother!

20130505_173918 by talon 2g, on Flickr

Next is the clutch itself.. it felt really mooshy. Kinda odd description I know, but it felt like really soft rubber plus there were gouges all over it (may have been from me prying on the trans)

20130505_173914 by talon 2g, on Flickr

and lastly, the flywheel. I'm not genius but those long vertical cracks don't look like they should be there lol. Replacement time?

20130505_173835 by talon 2g, on Flickr

Thanks again man!

Sorry for the late reply, And for not getting to your texts quick today.

The flywheel may be able to get resurfaced, But for the cost, You can find a used replacement in better condition for the same price probably (I had that one left if needed).

The pressure plate isn't that bad compared to the ones I've pulled out from cars I've bought off people in the past, And the disc isn't down to the wear marks yet, But for what you can get a stock exedy replacement for ($120 for the entire kit), I would not chance using it. Or, Get a not so expensive used but good condition aftermarket clutch kit!

whoops, also snapped these. Took them with a level, just to show the wear of the pressure plate. I thought that anything more than 1/2 way across the disk was a bad thing? Maybe i read wrong. No worries about the texting though, i know were all busy relaxing or working on our DSM's on sundays lol... heres a snap i took of her when I was done for the day.

Its a stock replacement. 6/7 bolt turbo motors use the same clutch and pressure plate.

I gotcha. I'm currently looking to replace my OEM one with at least a stage 2 replacement, most likely from southbend. the OEM one was slipping on its face under wastegate pressure, so its time for an upgrade before it becomes a bigger issue lol. Good lookin out though.

yeah id say either a resurface or swap out. least its not totally blue in the center! lol.

i ran a 8lb fidanza flywheel on a fidanza 1.2 clutch on my high mileage 7bolt and loved it.

well on link it said 350hp. but i got it for the 16G i had on 20psi. i never had a problem with slipping and I anti-lag launched it about 5 times at 4500rpms on 15psi and that bitch held fine. more than a 16g i dunno tho....i think it was rated right at 350tq IIRC, so I was at the upper limits. i put about 20k on it and it had a little bit left when I pulled it for a swap. decent lil clutch tho. now that flywheel was a lil blue from the launches :D
