i would've turned around when i got there and saw that the power was out. Actually, i dont think there's any way we can get into our building when there's no power. Our doors are all locked from the outside unless you have a security badge to get in. Getting out is no problem, but if there's no power and the back-up doesn't kick on, there'd be no way for the scanners to read our badges.
