Also, went and shot a co-worker's Ruger P95. Too big for me.

The search for a semi-auto that I can carry comfortably.. my choices are limited.

Those are all relatively close in size, both barrel/grip wise and overall thickness. With the S&W M&Ps, you get 3 interchangeable backstraps to choose from, so if you handle one at a gun shop and the grip feels too large, ask for the smaller backstraps. it takes about 10 seconds to change them so they should have no problem doing it for you. The Glock 26/27 is natually small. I would imagine it would fit your hands nicely and also be easy to carry. The Kel-Tec is supposedly the world's smallest 9mm.

There are tons more out there. Choose the gun first, not the caliber.. and don't let anyone tell you differently.

Seriously tho if that's too large look into a Glock 26 (subcompact 9mm) or a SA XD9 (subcompact 9mm). Both are smaller than that and great carry pieces.



Damn DC beat me to it LoL. The PF9 is a good pocket gun but it sucks for accuracy. I was looking at picking one up and its too small for my meathooks to be comfortable.

My wife carries a S&W M&P 9c. Really nice little pistol. She picked it out of about 8 or 9 different models we looked at. XD9 compact was in the running too but it's quite a bit bulkier than the Smith.

I'd also recommend looking at the Ruger SR9c. P45s are BIG, you're right. But the SR9 is built on a much slimmer and more compact frame to begin with.

If you really want something tiny, and can handle the snappy recoil, I absolutely LOVE my ruger LCP. It so small I don't ever have to worry about "dressing for the gun" or anything like that. Into a desantis pocket holster and it disappears right into my front pants pocket. I probably wouldn't carry as often as I do if it weren't for how comfortable and easy it is to keep that little .380 on me. To me that's the big benefit of a small pistol. You have a lot fewer good reasons to not carry it everywhere.

and if you like 1911 pattern pistols, you owe it to yourself to check out the sig p238. I haven't shot one yet but they're supposed to be fantastic little pocket guns. Plus, you can even get them in a fancy "rainbow titanium" finish.

Yeah I was looking at the Glocks this past week at the range, didn't feel like spending the money to rent them to test em out but they're on the list as well. I was pretty spot on accurate with my co-worker's Ruger P95... in fact, he was pretty upset cause my clusters were tiny and I was more accurate than he was and I had never shot that gun before.

I was thinking about picking something cheap up for the hell of it, like a Feg or a Makarov. I def need to go to the range and just rent a bunch of ****.

All I know is I'm keeping this little revolver of mine. When I went to the range the other day, my accuracy was pretty surprising. Especially since I didn't have glasses and I can't see anything past 3 feet away from me

The problem (beyond being hefty to carry) is that I have a hard time comfortably reaching the trigger and my small hands means I can barely get a good grip. I've got tiny hands.

I'm trying to find a gun that's a good compromise between size and recoil. My revolver packs quite the punch, which is cool, but for my next piece I'd like something that's a little more on the tame side.

I carry a Glock 19 you're more than welcome to try out. The only real difference between it and the 26 are a few extra rounds in the mag and about 1/2 an inch on the barrel length IIRC. My only issue is I barely have time to get out and shoot anymore. The other day was the first time since I took my son out and I don't see any time in the near future to get out without an act of god occurring . Best bet for you is to just go to a shop with a lot of guns on hand and start groping until you find one that is comfortable to hold. Then once you narrow that down go out and find places to rent said guns or go to meet & greets like the one going on tomorrow for the ZRT in Elverson. You could probably handle a lot of different guns there. Oh and if we go to the range remember one thing...don't tell B.

If you like the compact XD but feel the grip is a bit large and the gun itself is a bit thick you should find the M&P compact just about perfect. Those were the exact same 2 complaints my wife had with the XD compact and the M&Pc solved them both. In fact, she was about to go with the XD, then expressed those 2 concerns to the sales guy and he handed her the M&P 9c which we hadn't even considered. Slimmer frame, and interchangeable back straps to accommodate different hand sizes. Just make sure you don't get the one with the magazine disconnect, unless of course you like that feature. The trigger might feel a little "crunchy" at first too, but it smooths out once some rounds are put through it.

I didn't know they made an extended mag for the M&P. The one we have here has 3 mags, all 12+1 and the only difference is one has a flat floorplate (to make it more concealable) and the others have pinky extensions.

i've said it before, but really i can't be happier with my 40C. it's small enough to conceal well, but with the pinky extension floorplate it's very comfortable to grip even for a guy with medium/large hands like me.

i use the medium backstrap and it fits very nicely. i like the feeling of the large one, but i have a slightly gimped thumb on my right hand and the scarring won't let me stretch my thumb all the way out to hit the mag release when i'm using the large backstrap. that's the same reason that none of the H&K pistols, as nice as they are, will never make it to my collection because i have to loosen my grip and rotate the gun to even hit the mag release. this would almost definitely be the way a female's smaller hands will work as well. the M&P40C/9C is definitely the most comfortable compact gun i've ever used.

with the 9C you get 12+1 and with the 40C or .357 Sig you get 10+1 because of the larger caliber. with the M&P40 full size mags in the 40C you can bump it up to 15+1 and 17+1 with the M&P9 mags.

Go try a P238 SAS (steer clear of some other model P238's, early models and specifically the HD), you'll like it enough to want it. You don't have to get the rainbow finish ;) (not sure why anyone would )

It's not a double stack mag like the other compacts listed, it's much thinner in the grip, and it has much less recoil than the 9mm subcompacts. The only downside is the mag capacity, compared to the others listed.

The picture is deceiving as the P238 is considerably smaller than the G26...

Jul. I got a Glock 26 you can shot anytime you'd like. I also have a Ruger LCP which is the mini pocket gun .380 not sure if you checked them out or not. In my honest opinion as much as I love my Glock, 9 out 10 times I'll carry my LCP because it is just that much easier to take anywhere. You don't have to worry bout what your wearing or if your going somewhere you wouldn't want the gun to be printing. If you'd like to try either one at the range or just hold them let me know.

Pretty soon these dates are gonna start flying by and we'll end up not having it at all. My vote is - who cares if it's at a ****ty range or the "shooting" portion of the meet isn't that exciting. The point is to actually get together face-to-face with other like-minded individuals and get to know each other better than we could ever hope to from behind a computer screen. Especially with today's political climate we need to get as many people involved and included in shooting sports as possible.

It scares me to death to think that, had there been JUST ONE more anti-gun judge on the Supreme Court both the Heller and McDonald decisions would have held that individuals have no right to own firearms under the 2nd Amendment and that the 2nd doesn't even apply to the states. As absurd as we know those ideas are, we are exactly one activist judge away from basically writing the 2nd Amendment right out of the Constitution. Once that happens we lose the only thing keeping those intent on enslaving us from demanding national registration and ultimately confiscation.

Sorry for the rally/lecture/rant/whatever. Not really sure how having a tst group shoot will help anything, I guess I just got a little carried away.
