spray great stuff foam insulation in the trunk frame. it will expand enough to push out on the deck lid to prevent rattles. trim off the remaining with a straight blade, and then caulk around the edges where the trunk frame meets the skin, then dynamat over that to pretty it up.

My girlfriend was going to do that for me for my birthday but I didn't make up my mind quick enough haha. We are trying to figure out something else.

Meesh and I were going to go, but my best friends mom picked up tickets so "all of her boys" could go together.

GM really sucks. Julie's CEL kicked on. It was for a bad signal to the brake booster(they replaced the origional one under a few months ago too). Apparently it wasn't soldered correctly. Then we are out to dinner last night and we see a wireharness with a light bulb hanging down from the rear bumper... Great car with only 25kish miles.

jay, it seems that julie's car has had a lot of issues. has this been typical experience for GM cars for you and her in the past?

Nope. My GTO has been flawless for 70k miles. Only thing that failed that wasn't at my own modding was the suspension(and its known for not lasting long in these cars). I've had a bunch of GM cars in the past and they have all been great cars. I'm expecting a cluster of really expensive repairs though since the only things that tend to have issues are $1000s each and I haven't had any of them somehow.

Julie bought her GTO as a dealer demo.. it was in the shop more the she probalyl drove it. $30k+ in warranty work. She sold it with maybe 17k miles on it. HHR SS seems to be going the same way.

I think it is newer GM cars that just suck. Its like they design a car 99% of the way and then just build it without really testing it. Only way I would EVER buy a GM car again is if I got the deal of a lifetime or it was a Corvette. Otherwise, I wish we wouldn't of bailed them out and they went bankrupt like a business that isn't profitable should.

Speaking of ribs... there is a good place in Bridgeport/Norristown we went to with friends. I had a spicy rub with a honey BBQ on top. Freaking great... and they use charcoal too(which I love the taste of).

Jay i was listening to a a radio about the Nummi plant in CA operates versus they way it was under GM's management. It was interesting hearing form workers who where there first as GM employees then as Nummi people. By the sound of your experience with the HHR it seems that GM migth still be making some cars the old way.....if there was a problem on the assembly line, leave it for the repairs dept to fix.
