So you want it faster in a straight line, or in the 1/4 mile?

Well I asked because you spent a few months telling everyone this isnt a 1/4 mile car and you could care less about it. Plus you said 2 pages back that a buddy of yours drove the car, and you realized you have a lot to learn about driving. Personally, I think the car needs some legit coil overs and sticky rubber. But you need to decide if you want to go faster straight, or faster overall. If your going to be doing auto-X like you said you were, suspension/tires will make you faster at Auto-X then power mods will. But if you want to go faster straight line, obviously power mods will be better. Which one do you want.

I think you should leave it as is and just go learn the car. Run it at auto-x, do a road course. How can you upgrade something without knowing the flaws?

Finally put in the nice S2000/Civic Si shift knob, had my friend Rob bring his tools and we re-threaded it to fit. Shifting feels much nicer.

Feels better to the hand? Shift knob won't improve shifting.

You always liked a nice knob in your hand....

Car looks great though. I haven't seen it in a WHILE, and it turns out that I don't frequent this thread often. I really am impressed.

And not that they are really mods but just for the hell of it

Mazdaspeed mats

New Civic Si shift knob exactly like the s2000 one but with red lettering

Even has the proper shift pattern layout

Gonna start taking apart the intake system tomorrow afternoon to re-paint it, tired of the blingy tacky chrome, need to scuff it and decide on color, probbably wrinkle black and I'll do the strut bar the same way. Here's what has to get painted in general, there's more like the thermostat housing and intake manifold but I'm not taking all that apart right now.

now your shift boot doesn't cover the shifter fully, looks ghetto like all the ek's and eg's that do the same exact thing......

I agree. Knob is nice, but looks half assed since the boot drops.

It's actually really comfortable to hold that way.

Had a little bit...well a lot, of fail painting the intake system. The wrinkle high temp paint takes 2 hours to dry, I didn't bother to read all the way in. Apparently the paint still has to cure for 24-48 hours. I ended up re-installing all the parts cause I have to be somewhere today, left hand marks everywhere. Needless to say it's all coming apart tonight, getting sanded, and a new coat of paint, then it will hang on a clothesline outside in my backyard until Sunday until it's fully cured and ready to re-install without getting smudged. Strut bar came out good IMO but the TB inlet pipe, upper intake pipe, and hotside charge pipe have to be re-done. Pix of the fail

Strut bar came out sweet I think (still going to polish all of the bolt heads)

Overall look

Demolished TB inlet pipe to be redone

Demolished intake pipe to be redone

Gonna look nice when it's all done. I was also told to give the pipes a blast of self etching primer so I'll do that tonight and paint them tomorrow morning. Sunday it will be pretty

i think it looks exactly like my s2000, there is a space between my boot and shift knob and it came stock like that. so if one were to compare then it looks great

i duno much about it being "weighted" since i can buy "real" weighted ones apparently, but i personally don't like the feel of it. i'm more of a ball guy myself.

Intake system re-done, just have to sort out a vac leak and everything is back to normal.

I honestly liked the chrome better but maybe after seeing it in person i'll change my mind. A shame you weren't at cystic fibrosis show today you would have been the only miata plus we had a really good group of guys hanging out.
