I don't like calling it 'bitchy'. I like to call it being passionately honest.

weird, maybe it is your house... my iphone's working just fine. I've never had any problems with AT&T.

Also, thanks to the zodiac thread and people calling Ken names, The Fray's cover of "Heartless" is stuck in my head.

damnit.

It's probably the specific cell tower. I've had that happen numerous times back when I was on nextel.

I've been interested in it myself. I am going to buy a shed to move the lawn equipment to so I can put the woodworking equipment in my garage. My primary interest is cabinets. You can buy a pretty decent aquarium stand with 2x4s and oak ply though ;)

well, i'm planning on joining the wood via mortise and tenon w/ dowel plugs and wood glue to keep things from backing out. i'm hoping it's something that won't have any issue holding 600lbs. I'm planning on 4x4 legs w/ a 4x4 in the center front and back and all joined together by 2x4's

going to practice with some spare wood this evening and do more work on my google sketchup aquarium stand

pics as you proceed! A guy on one of the firearm forums im on has been posting pictures of random **** he builds and the work is really unbelievable.. He uses a forstner bit with a drill press to drill a line of holes then chiseled them out by hand to make his mortises (which sounds like a bitch)

Also look into antique wood, I heard out in amish country you can buy 100 year old wood from barns, etc that if refinished properly turns out awesome!

::edit:: the guys over there said this is a great resource for any questions on to learn a thing or two: Sawmillcreek.org

i'll definitely be posting. the drill bit and hand chisel is easy... i'm going to be using a chisel and mallet haha. no power tools here. been reading up on it, doesnt seem so hard (famous last words) just time consuming and requires accuracy

old wood would be awesome to use for stuff as well. i'm also looking at how to distress this wood... and the idea of using a torch and wire brush to do so sounds like fun and danger mixed into one package of awesome

4x4's are crrraaaazy overkill. Good wood can handle axial compression of 1200 pounds per square inch. This means a single 4x4 can handle 19,200 pounds. My aquarium stand is made with a particle board box. No supports whatever, and holds a 55 gallon tank full without any kind of indication that it's a problem. That is 440 pounds of water.

But overkill rules, so go for it.

I installed a new door and I mortised the hinge recesses myself with a hammer and chisels. A pain in the ass and I figured out halfway through that I was holding the chisel upside down but I ended up getting really good at it and the results are serviceable. If I did it again, I would build a jig for a router. I think a router and a table saw are my next tools.
