Why not? Nothing wrong with sleeves, a lot of Miata specific companies market them. FatCat Motorsports who does a lot of custom suspension work for retail customers and has Spec Miata ready suspensions and they have nothing bad to say about sleeves. There's a limit to how they should be used obviously, don't use them to slam, but they are good for fine tuning.

Believe me, no rush, and if I could get Flex for under 1000 I probbably would, though my goal isn't to go low which is what comes to mind with a full coilover.

I remember back in the day all the Honda boys were all about Skunk2, slammed on sleeves, loud exhausts, skunk2 was the ish LOL. Not saying they make a bad product, just remember it as ricer's paradise.

CleanNeon, add more slammed to your ride.

Cut Springs.

Blow Struts.

Awesometown.

Btw, there's nothing wrong with qaulity coilover sleeves. I know a lot of 240 guys use Koni Yellows with Eibach Ground Control Sleeves and swear by them.

Also look into BC coilovers from Elite JDM, I think they're in your price range or a tiny bit over....

Goes back to my coilover theory. I can have the lower model BC coils for right around 1000 but for the same money I can get an IMO better shock/spring combo. Since I don't plan on being low, there's really no need for me to have full coils. If I found top-of-the-line coils for around my budget I'd get them as long as they performed well, but that would have to be used and I'm at the point where I don't want used stuff for my car, especially suspension parts.

The Flex can sit up higher if you'd like them to. Fully extended w/out dicking with preload they were an inch-ish lower than stock, IIRC.

Mine is at 11" F and 11.5"(ish) R from hub to fender now. Low, but not so-cal slammed (low enough though that with the Ratsback carbon lip it makes things difficult). It rides well for as low as it is, and has a good amount of travel, as I rarely get into the bumpstops.

I'm at 12-12.5 front and love the fitment that way, rear is 13-13.5 though and rake = blah

See how nice the front sits vs. the back

When all is said and done, I want the car to have the same, maybe slightly lower stance than the front has now, and a higher rate spring with the appropriate damping

Front:

Rear:

My goal:

slightly lower than this

etc.etc. They have diff wheel and tire combos but that's approximately where I want to be. Low enough to look nice but not so low that it's hard to drive and I don't want to rub/scrape either.

How low can I go before things start getting hazy. I remember reading 11.5, anything lower throws off suspension geometry. Correct?

Read my edit at the far end of the pic post and LMK what you think.

Also, what front bumper does he have? I love it.

nah, a cheaper set that goes low and are not bouncy. I would think about better ones for track, but then thought to myself that I probably would never make it to one... so Ill just stick w/ low for now. kinda still deciding, but def buying this weekend. plus im gonna have to buy other **** like spacers, etc.

Rollbar looks great man, I told you it would stiffen the car up

A lot of people run the Ground Control sleeves with good things to say about them. FM sells a kit with springs and shocks, or you can get something custom and just use the sleeves. Also...the $30 ebay coilover sleeves are actually very good quality. The springs are bull **** though obviously. So you can build your own shock/spring combo, and then run the cheaper Sleeves. It will be the same outcome as using ground control sleeves, but saving around 100. No known problems with the cheapo sleeves either. Just a though. Also, the Tein basics are prety decent for around $850-$900 new. People only complain about them when they go slammed, thats when they run out of travel and are harsh. Hopefully you find a solution that works for you. Personally, I love having the adjust ability of COs so ide never run just a shock/spring combo. Seems like a sleeve setup is best for you.

Should be easy to get coils for a dub. Bilstein PSS are good too, or PSS9 if you wanna drop lots of dough. BC makes a good coil, my friends have them on their cars and they sit real low and ride real nice

Yea you were right about the rollbar, definately made the car feel nicer.

I'm actually looking at the Eibach and GC kit from FM, the big reason being you get spring rates according to your choice of shocks. My thing with basics is I think they are more for comfort and style than performance, every basic coilover I find has similar or lower spring rates than what I already have which kills the point of getting them because I want to go stiffer.

I haven't found coilovers in my budget with a 425/300 rate and appropriate damping. The closest I've found was these, but the price makes me cringe.

FlyinMiata AFCO
http://flyinmiata.com/index.php?dept...00%20%20CUSTOM - $2,000

FatCat Motorsports Variant 2
http://fatcatmotorsports.com/FCM_Adj...a.htm#Variant2 - $2,125

haha ya its hard to find spring rates that match dampening...my car is STIFF suspension wise, but thats how I wanted it. Its not bouncy at all, but its pretty stiff. Its not from lack of travel either, I still have plenty. I just like to feel everything on the road when I drive. But thats just me. I dont even use NA coilovers, I use NB coilovers....which are even stiffer spring rates/dampening then NA ones. Again, because I wanted a stiff ride.

Ive riden in an NA on the FM ground control kit, and I was surprised how well it rode. He had them on Koni yellows. Not a bad way to go.

Yea when I talked to Keith he said for me the Illumina and GC would be best because the GC kit for the Yellows or AGX have softer rates to match their damping. With the other things I have I'll be able to really stiffen things up and still have a decent ride with a properly matched suspension.

Still waiting on a call back from FatCat Motorsports about their options but their prices are generally higher so I don't expect anything.

Im not a big fan of Illuminas at all...I had to replace 2 front Illuminas that blew in th first 1000 miles. Car wasnt even low, it was on an eibach prokit. I will never run them on anything else. Read up on M.net, a lot of people have had them blow prematurely. Maybe they have fixed the problem by now though!

BTW badgers car runs the NB2 Garage Vary front bumper. Super rare and super $$$$. I dug up his cardomain, so you can check out all his stats. Ok, I actually have his cardomain saved in my favs haha...here it is.
