Figure i bump this up with some on track footage of Shep's talon from the 2012 Shootout. Really wish he could of gotten at least a 8sec pass out of it, but none the less i was just happy he showed up and put on a show. He ran a 1300whp GTR to a 8.9 pass, ran his personal GTR to a few consistent 9.5 passes, and did one shakedown on the 1g as seen in the video.

Any of you guys pretty familiar and good with link?? I was messing around with it for the first time a few days ago to get the basics down before I do my swap and was wondering how my log looked. Maine has no tuners and want to do as much as I can for a good base tune before I make a 5 hours drive to get a pro tune. Any help would be great!

I think all the local guys around here go to KP tuning for link. I think you might get more help on dsmtuners or the link forums.

I tried registering on the EMC forum but every time I go to log in it says incorrect password or it's still waiting for an admin approval. I've posted on tuners, about 65 views no comments haha. I realize it's not much with me just getting the basics down but I'd to have some advice before I go messing with it once I put the 16g, injectors, etc. in and mess with it.

Well, my 2.3L block is toast thanks to the wrong ring gap and/or PTW clearance of "DogBox Racing". If anyone needs some 7bolt stuff let me know. I have the whole block still including Eagle rods, FFWD 2.3 butcher crank, timing components, front case w/ bse, oil pan, etc. Just let me know.

What were the ring gaps and ptw clearance? It's hard to believe Alex would mess something as simple as that up.

I believe Dom did the work. This was right before they went under too.

That's the review my friend that was with me and I did on dsmtuners. It was a messed up experience from the beginning.

thats the bad thing with shops.. you never know who you can trust anymore. Have you done a review on yahoo yet? I usually type in the shops name + reviews and see what folks have rated any business im looking for. Has steered me clear of ****ty businesses many times. Just an idea of course But that situation sounds like I would have ended up in prison for aggravated assault., especially for stealing nearly $3000 of someones hard earned money.

That sucks. In all honestly, Alex is a good guy and one of the more knowledgeable guys in the DSM community. The fact of the matter is DogBox wasn't his primary business...I didn't realize it went to the extent of him not being there doing/supervising the work. Definitely doesn't excuse them not standing behind the work. I've seen similar stories to yours at many other reputable shops which sucks for those who can't or don't have the opportunity to do the work themselves. It's the luck of the draw with which mechanic you get to do the work at said shop.

Do you remember the specs that you got back on those ring gaps and PTW?

I don't remember off the top of my head on the ring gap and ptw clearance. I didn't think twice about going to them because I had a good experience from them before(trans work). It just seemed like none of them cared anymore. Whatever, what's done is done and since they're out of business I can't go after them.

In brighter news, my friend Drew(DrewJ Tuning) is hooking me up with a built bottom end so I'll be back in action soon. Going from 2.3 back to 2.0. I forgot what life was like beyond 8k RPM haha.

Good to hear. I loved the 2.3 in my Evo for street use...but I definitely missed revving it out like you said. What's the ETA for the new setup?

93 is getting brought down at the end of the month.

6 bolt,ARP headstuds, evo 8 injectors, 16g turbo, manual boost controller, SAFC2 monitor, greddy turbo timer, magnaflow turbo back, Megan racing strut bars front and rear, tein coilovers all the way around.

It idles like crap when cold so I know its got some sort of vac leak but its one of my best friends and he never even touches it.

New setup will be done probably in a week or two with my work schedule. Can't wait to rev sky high. I'm hoping to get a set of Keldord 272 in too.
