I've had it

as most of you know. I havent had the Scoob on the road since January due to a blown transmission. Now 4 1/2 months later I am inches away from getting it back on the road..

I now hate body shops who dont know how to hold a ****ing spray gun..... I also hate transmision shops who order the wrong ****ing parts...

No one is EVER touching my car regardless what is being done to it... period!

that is all. thank you.

Don't out helical cut 3-4, wait it out for the straight cut 1-4. I'm serious.

I told you last night. Time to take that thing to a junk yard.

Thankfully I happen to have one in my backyard. Drop it off anytime.

helical 3/4 is definitely the way to go unless you have a race car with 500+ whp, but even then its really not necessary to go all straight.
with that said, i knwo a guy who has a straight 3/4 in good shape who might be interested in selling them if you're interested... of course the gears would have to get down to andrewtech before they could move forward with your gearbox.

And you can still flat shift 1-2 which is always nice

That sucks a lot, good luck with getting everything worked out. And what is this with the body shop? You get something fixed/replaced?

Thanks for the offer Brian.. they are getting done today and actually be built right now. I think Im gonna like it. The more I talked to the guys down there, the more I think the 3-4 helical is the way to go. They feel that the helical gets way annoying for the commuting I do.

I got my front lip, hood scoop and vents repainted... came out like absolute dog shizzle.

the scoop and vents arent bad at all but the lip I almost threw up when I saw it.
Its at the body shop now who has to remove ALL the paint and re do it which is going to take awhile till its done..

yeah its common belief to think that the straight gears are stronger, but there is no factual info indicating that at all. the only unarguable difference between them is the noise.
andrew said that in theory the straight gears are about 10% stronger, but there's no way to prove it one way or another in a real world situation, and that no matter what gear, neither straight or helical has ever been broken.
so basically what i'm saying is... you shouldnt ever have a problem. i know 1-2 straight and 3-4 helical would be my all start setup.

Sometimes people think straight-cut gears are stronger since you have a larger surface area to distribute the load on. That may be the case, but helical gears distribute the same load across multiple teeth, so to some the difference is negligible.
