so if i detail my car tonight/sometime tomorrow.. what specific items should I get?well... recommendations. I have ideas, but I thought I would ask the 'expert' detailers. its a silver car and the paint is in pretty good shape.

that depends on how in depth you want to get.... and what kind of results you are looking for.

ah, well clean really. I think i can only get so much of a shine out of a silver.. idk though. no swirls in the paint so i dont need to worry about that really. I can tend to get pretty in depth with it so the more in depth doesnt bother me too much.

I could've made a new thread but I know you and oakes are in here usually so I figured I'd just ask real quick and it would be over with :P

you guys hear about the US cargo ship that was attacked by pirates yesterday? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/piracy

A US Destroyer was sent out there. One pirate, of four, was over taken and the others fled on a lifeboat and took the captain of the ship. More often than not these things end peacefully with millions of dollars exchanging hands... but now we've got US Destroyer sitting out there.

So pretty much... whatever happens, the pirates are gonna get ****ed up

Well, if you are just looking to get it clean and shine well just grab some Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish and either their/or your choice same Carnauba wax with the right applicator pads. Just apply the Polish after you wash and clay bar the car, don't let it sit - wipe it in a panel and then buff it out with some microfiber towels. Then apply the wax and let it sit for a while until it's dry. That should give you a nice clean result and get rid of any existing light swirls and won't break the bank. Still take you about 3-4 hours if you do everything else too.

Is your customer actually on time? Because he never is, and if he really is running on schedule, give him a freaking big ass cookie when he gets there.

In that case, just stick to hand polishing this time around.

Considering wax takes an entire day to cure, I wouldnt go balls deep in it because its going to rain tomorrow.

If it were me, (I already did mine)

I would wash, clay , and polish. You have a bright silver car so from a foot away clean its going to look great. No ones going to really notice inperfections unless they are face down on your hood.

Claybarring is the most important part of the whole deal, it brings depth to the paint by removing all surface contaminants like old wax, road grime....
