You must be 21 years of age in pennsylvania to purchase a handgun. As well you must also be 21 years of age in Pa to get your carrying permit Although the carrying permit is acceptable in most place to have on you, there are still certain businesses and all government building which prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons!!

And anywhere else that it's posted that they don't want weapons.

Also it's not only PA, but federal law that you can't purchase a handgun unless you're at least 21. You also can't purchase ammunition intended for a handgun unless you're 21. All other guns and ammunition are 18.

you can't carry a handgun in a place that sell alcohol either. Something about booze and guns that don't always mix to well.

I have a gun, but no permit to carry. Its sitting in my underwear drawer unloaded. I really need to get some ammo for it so I can use it as a hole punch.

Silly little .22 lol. If I'm lucky I'll get through the front of the skull and cause a lot of brain damage from the slug bouncing around.

Bull****. I actually asked and was told by not only the owner of a gunshop but also a PA trooper, that you can carry to the bar.

Now, if you are a drunk, and plan on slinging your pistola around and firing shots in the air at the stroke of midnight, then I don't think it is a good idea to carry in a bar. but otherwise..... why not

Well they are wrong.

There is some percentage, for arguments sake lets use 60/40 that there needs to be more food sold then alcohol. Otherwise its considered a bar and you cant carry there.

EDIT - hmm...musta been wrong. Not that this site is the bible, but this link http://www.packing.org/state/pennsylvania/ shows nothing about carry in a bar.

.22's are good, cheap fun, but an AK is more expensive and totally awesome! You can buy anything that's not a handgun, including assualt rifles. ;)

A well placed .22 is great for a hit from a distance, or when you need to make a subtle offensive statement (slienced Walther P22). However, in the even of a home invasion, or other situation requiring self defence with lethal force, a larger caliber is significantly more likely to subdue the threat (assailant), and end the situation without you being harmed. That being said, the 'best' caliber hand gun is the one that you can make consecutive controlled shots with high accuracy. I will take my 9mm over a .45 any day, based on my current skill leval.

I agree with everything that you said, but the statement was a .22 is better than a rock. Do you disagree?

<-- has his carry permit as well as 2 pistols. :P

ok everything everyone said about where you can and cant carry is true.
No schools.
No goverment buildings of ANY form
No Movie theaters (weird one)
No BARS!!! yes NO BARS!!!
BUT, you can carry into pubs ie: bars that also sell food :P And reasurants.
Walmart frowns upon it (got asked to leave one time because I printed)

Concealed = hidden. not "oh well my shirt is over it but you can totally see it throught the shirt"
If you print ie:"show outline" That is the same as brandishing.
Although PA has this wacky law about some stupid Amendment "The right to keep and bear arms"
You legally don't need a CCW to carry in PA. If you have a holster outside your person readily available, they cant say ****...Although the PO PO don't like it much :P

What do you need to actually purchase one? My buddy out here was telling me you only need a PA license and be 21. Is that true?
