Here's a sick build:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=466041

I don't think I would ever go this route due to the heritage of the inline 6 (and 340-360 rwhp being perfectly fine with me), but the plug and play of a V8 into this chassis is pretty amazing.

Well, fitment will be as good as it gets...reliability will be better than the ebay cheapies and some of the mid-range stuff (AP stuff has split at the welds on one guys car).

The reason for going with the CSL headers is that as more dynos are released, we're seeing maybe a 5% peak power difference between the european headers and the Super Sprint $2,300 header setup and most of those gains could be coming from the cats themselves.

In terms of gains vs. AP, SGT, etc. (basically all the same stuff)...should be the same according to CPI. If there's a 1% delta, I don't care. Simply won't matter.

So for absolute PEAK N/A gains, guys can run Super Sprint, but If I can get 95-98% of those gains for a fourth of the cost with OEM parts...then I'll go OEM.

Plus, with pulleys, an airbox and a tune those deltas can be pretty insignificant overall.
You need to get lucky with a Supersprint header like I did... I got mine for $200 vs well over $1k new

That 1% delta at your current hp could become a lot bigger later... but if the gain stays at like 3-4hp it really does become insignificant.

How much difference will the headwork make? I'd love to see it with 288s, should be wild!

Hah, they're $2200-2300 for the M3. Not worth it.

Here's a good build thread showing what's possible:

Dave's M3.

Got around to an easy job. Replaced the faded plastic hood grille.

It now matches the new windshield cowl. Nice and black.

The new AVIN has arrived!

Android powered touchscreen computer stereo thingy. I also got the Torque Bluetooth OBD kit to have the car monitoring through the unit.

Now the fun part....installing it. Last time I installed a car stereo was 1996. :/

ordered the rest of the stage 1 speaker upgrade kit from Bavsound.

Also ordered new C pillar trim pieces since the originals started to have the cloth sag.

looking forward to upgrading the stereo and infotainment in the car. it'll be transitioning to my daily driver soon!

Back to being your DD? You better pick up a winter beater

I find it odd that a car of this age is having bubbling or faded plastic parts. Gotta love German plastic..

Well, it'll depend on the car program whereever I end up at. Hopefully, it'll be at MB and then I'll not have the M as the DD up there either.

Yeah, it's curious.

Thanks buddy! Me either! haha

Waiting on the speakers to all come in, then i'll just devote a weekend to putting everything in. The speakers look to be the easy part...

Yeah, I really dig that its a double DIN that takes up only the space of a single DIN behind it. I almost wonder if DSMlink could be ran through it and made "native" to the car. Hmmmm.....

It is nice.

Working on the speakers now. I've replaced the C pillar panel and the rear speakers so far. The rear tweeter/midrange speakers are behind an interior panel that i don't want to take off since it undoes my previous fix of the rubber surround trim (ask me how I know this). so that will be done when i have those seals replaced.

About to head downstairs and do the doors now to complete the speaker upgrade. The rears sound better than before.

Then I'll be replacing the front bumper reflectors with painted inserts and I'm eying up that rear CSL diffuser and front CF spoilers something fierce...

and I guess I should install the AVIN too... haha

Odds and ends done. Tomorrow I'll attack the rear diffuser and the head unit.

I can already tell a nice difference with the speakers alone. Pleased with the upgrade.

CSL rear diffuser installed!

Fitment on the drivers side isn't that great so I'll be upgrading to an SGT diffuser down the road. For now, here we are:
