If you can do something without breaking anything i would consider that saying it is safe.

look up the word possible.
Edit: this is no discussion. Your are twisting my words and its not a good idea to do rwd burnouts in your awd car but its possible to do it without breaking anything. Two cars in that video prove my point. Drop it

Sweet have fun with that.

Note to all: Always be skeptical of what you read on the internet don't always take it as fact.

Hey, everyone needs to calm down here and check out the thread about this on nasioc...some of us that drive an STI know that the DCCD center diff is disengaged when the ebrake lever is pulled. So these guys pulled it up just one click to tell the diff to disengage so that they are not burning up the center diff.

Now does that mean I am going to go out and do this with my brand new car?? NO but also realize that this is the Big Valley team...yea the guys with pretty much the fastest STIs in North America...

And thats fine but those cars are drag cars and do you think that groupe cares if they break a tranny or a diff not. Remember when gadiels car broke 3rd aand now it has a dog bog....? Maybe it is form doing donuts? Seriously tho i don't think this is something i would do for a street car center diff diesengaged or not.

I totally agree with you I would never do it to my car either. Thats why I mentioned it was the Big Valley guys...that first car is the one that is running 10s on stock internals, so obviously breaking something is a little less of a concern for them than the average owner.

its 100% as safe as dropping the clutch and doing a burn out with a reg rwd car, pull the ebrake up one click and it will open the center diff lsd and make the sti rwd then just power brake it . . . i saw it on nasioc from that link s4tosti already posted

btw, the first sti also was in a drift competion using this method of making the car Rwd . . . i dont think its stupid . . making a awd car rwd for alittle playing and its easily reversable by putting the ebrake down one notch. .

Jason i will bring the camera and put 10 bucks towards your new tranny and/or rear diff fund... all you have to do is bring the car and your ebrake on click up.

im gonna do it with some tire shine to slicken the tires . . if it opens the center diff , it makes the car rwd and then it is just like doing a rwd burn out, ive driven like this with the diff open and its very tail happy with no problems.

you can open the center diff with the dccd as well
