So in the mail today I got an issue of SCC with the list of USCC entries...
I say this to preface because I've always considered the Evo as the common-man's racecar. Its under 32k for a new one which most people can afford (brand new). Other cars like a Z06 or even just a stock Vette coupe are over 44k new. So it's attainable to most anyone really, and it's almost always a cornerstone (right next to a GT-R) of the USCC. This year, there is a GT-R (an R34 at that) but not one Evo. The point is that this has risen to a level of automotive supremacy that goes beyond the usual. The list of entries will garner reactions that range from "well thats nothing new" to "I never knew you could do that". Read on... Here's the list... Ron Pippin's 2007 Subaru STi Ed Haroutonian's 1969 BMW 2002 Brent Mattraw's 2000 Audi S4 Steve Ruiz (from StopTech)'s 2004 Corvette Z06 Jacko Luong's 1999 R34 Skyline GT-R Ed Reeser's 2003 VRT/JWT twin turbo ALL WHEEL DRIVE Infiniti G35 coupe Ryan Hawkin's 1993.5 Toyota Supra BlackTrax Performance's LS1 powered 1990 300ZX Michael Kim's 2007 Ariel Atom David Dunn's 1994 Mid-engined Acura Integra The only somewhat normal cars are really the STi and S4. These are the only cars that you see every day and don't have some very-extensive fab work. I know you see a G35 every day, but not an AWD coupe as it's never been produced. Same goes for the Integra, sure you see em all the time, but never a mid-engine H22 powered one. I can't want to see who the winner is. Knowing Ed Reeser and JWT/VRT as well as about the time and effort put into the Z06, I'd say they'll both be close. I think the Ariel Atom will outperform just about everything on a road course, HOWEVER it won't win because it simply won't get high marks in drivability and other non-performance based testing. This should be interesting.

i call z06 for the win, its going to carry good marks throughout the contest and will likely holdup for the entire thing. contraption cars are very cool but almost never survive

wow, so nice that my SUBSCRIPTION doesnt come as fast as the ones on the shelf....wtf....
im glad theres no evo, tghere shouldnt be a gtr or a sti either, u kno why, they are played the **** out. last yr there was more than 1 evo and if u got more than 1 of any car its too much. last yr they had an elise that would have kicked ass but it showed up late and didnt have a chance to win bc of it. im routin for that g35 bc its unique (as each of these cars should be, any moron can up the boost on a supra) but im sure the vette will win bc like whats his name said, science experiments rarely survive........... let alone win (edit, anyone remember the dual engine tiburon? say what u want about hyundai but that thing did the best burnout EVER, but it was just too weird to stay in the top places in other categories, the vette will be consistently high, and thats what wins uscc) |

I don't see the S4 winning. I don't see a German car ever winning. They always seem to break.
I see the G35 or the Z06 winning honestly. However I am VERY excited to see how the GT-R and the LS1 powered 300ZX do.

No one even looks at the Atom?
That's not really a science experiment. It has a good chance.

The Atom, while it is an absolutely AMAZING piece of engineering... will not win.
For the following reasons... 1 - It's stock... it's soo good stock the owner didn't modify it. While in stock form it'll annihilate the competition on a road course, the guru panel will hate it because they judge the quality and engineering of the MODIFICATIONS, not of the stock car. Since it's stock it will have a loss of points. 2 - Girlfriend test... no a/c, no radio, no windows, NO DOORS, NO ROOF. FAIL 3 - Driveability - the clutch on those things is know to be ridiculous as well as the car will have stupid stiff suspension. It's like a 2x4 with 4 wheels.

Well, that all depends on if an angry mob comes and burns VRT to the ground. Read up on G35driver and my350z on all the stories of them ripping people off.

I'll wait to give out my predictions until I see the actual issue... but I really am surprised there's no Evo.
