I would go to Autozone and borrow the OBDII Scanner to check the CEL and see what it says. Give us the code and diagnostic it sells, that would help.

well, brake pads were wear and tear... rotors though, my fault. They are long overdue. The oil change again, standard, again, I'm overdue. He spent 6K on the car, I haven't spent anywhere near that on it in repairs/maintenance. I'm still fairly certain it's a nice gift whether it poops out tomorrow or lasts me another 20 years
Eh true. I did help Alex swap his suspension crap before. Working at 2AM ftw!

Well we stopped around 2:30AM, then went and ate and went to bed. I don't know if I can take any more snoring people in the house.

Hey does it help that when my tach jumps around when I'm idling and when the cars rocking back and forth the lights are dimming and getting brighter a smidge too?

A faulty EGR valve could cause erratic idle. When it went on my Blazer the idle jumped all over the place and the car would shake. A vacuum leak is also possible, look at all the rubber hoses in your engine bay and look for cracks or any that got disconnected. They dry out after a while and start to crack, causing a leak.

Well if her idle is dipping pretty low it will dim the lights. That is because the alternator is not spinning fast enough.

wouldn't call it a surge .. if your rpms drop to low its gonna cause the lights to dim ..

ok for your weird idle it could be you idle air controller i will sometimes make the car bog...and almost stall out...this can feel more excessive with a bad motor mount..and with the dimming lights could be a bad dimmer resister...but how many miles are on the car...i would replace the alternator...i actually had a car one time getting the dimming of lights because the serpentine belt was actually slipping around the alternator pulley...
