Wierd undercover police encounter
First off, thank you for answering my previous question regarding state registration; it was nice to finally clear that up.
Second, I want to say that in my few months here in PA I have been very impressed by the local and state law enforcement. I've known some areas where they aren't known for being polite and professional, and since I drive a fairly high profile car I worry about drawing undeserved attention. That said, I had one strange encounter about a month ago with a local undercover officer, at least I think it was a police officer, and I was wondering if you could provide any incite. I was on my way to work and I was approaching an intersection in which I needed to go straight but the lane I was in becomes a turn lane. I was doing the speed limit as were the other cars around me, and I signaled well in advance to indicate I was intending to move to the right (straight) lane. When I attempted to switch lanes, the car in that lane and behind me quickly sped up, closed the gap with the car in front of him, thus cutting me off from moving over. Even though I'm from NY, I am not an aggressive driver , so I simply shrugged it off and slowed up so I could move over behind the car that just cut me off. After switching lanes, we were approaching the intersection which had a green light and we had right of way, when suddenly the car in front of me stopped short right at the intersection. I took a brief moment to look around for the cause of his sudden stop, and when I saw that there was no apparent reason, I gave him a little honk of the horn in typical New Yorker fashion So, I was wondering what you make of this? I'm not positive it was an undercover officer; the plate said "municipal" on it, and the number was something like MG806??? My best guess is that it was some sort of undercover officer who stereotyped me by thinking that driving a car with a large rear wing automatically makes me an aggressive and unsafe driver, and he figured he would teach me some sort of "lesson." Should I have reported this incident to the local police? Sorry this message is so long, thanks in advance for any input you have! |
