Have a question? Belts? blown at the track.

Well i have just got home from island dragstrip. While on my last run i noticed that i had no power steering. So i figured **** it, I can still drive home. I get to the pit area pop my hood and notice my other belt is gone too. Now that belt runs my altenator (spelling sorry) and my water pump. Well i couldn't leave it there so i drove it from great meadows nj back to walnutport pa. It didn't over heat. I didn't lose power. The car ran fine and dandy execpt for the power steering up course. My question is how the hell did that work like how did it not over heat. What could have gone wrong. Thanks.
