Need some serious help.

I am sitting here thinkin about life, and thouht I would post here for advice.

Ive been into cars since I was a kid, and an interest has grown into a lifestyle where everything circles around anything automotive. Most essays for school were somehow car related, even if they were about psychology. I am going to start my second semester at bucks soon, and I am starting to have second thoughts. Its just not something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. Sitting in an office, etc. All I want to do is work in a field that is automotive whether is be mechanics, elecrical, paint, custom work, whatever. The problem isnt the choice, but the family.

Everyone in my family has gone to a University back in the Ukraine, and they want me to do the same. Whenever I talk about cars (all the time) it drives them crazy. I told them before that I wanted to be a mechanic, but they flipped **** on me and told me that if I didnt go to college, they didnt want me living in their house. What should I do. How can I convince them to stop being so one sided against my future. They are convinced that all it takes to be a mechanic is being able to use a wrench, and not having any knowledge about cars (not having any schooling on the topic)

I would like to thank everyone for reading this thread, and for any useful input. Any experiences would be apretiated, as this thread will be forwarded to my parents for reading. This is just a move I am making for a bright and exciting future for myself.
