UpState NY TOUGE
Hey guys! Thought you would like to see some of the nasty touge action in my new town. I miss Philly, but I'm having a blast terrorizing the local downhills. I'll be living here til March, then off to Sophia University in TOKYOOOOOO!!!
I'm literally the only import out here aside from some obnoxious hondas... Noone even knows what a rotary engine is. Some dude in a Camaro flagged me down and told me i must have a blown head gasket because i had a lot of smoke coming out of my exhaust... and some kid in a HOTTT border-kitted 240sx coupe about an hour from my mom's place thought that a blow off valve was nitrous purge, and when I showed him my RFL, he said he was getting a ::insert redneck dialect:: "SKYLINE engine so I put two of them on, right by the hood, and when the smoke shoots out I'm gonna have one of them there lights that makes the smoke turn green!" HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT SR OR RB MEANT!!! **** THE FAST AND THE ****ING FURIOUS!!! Of course, he peeled out across the whole parking lot where I flagged him down to ask if any locals drifted, to which he replied, "I drift, I drag race, I do it all" with his BONE stock KA (aside from fart can) @250-some-k miles... uuugggghhhhhhhhhh. On the brighter side, I wish some of you guys were closer. Some of you drift fans should come visit one of these days. I got friends across the street who run a body shop out of the garage and do great work really fast and really cheap. I also have a buddy who owns a custom exhaust shop... He builds, no joke, $1000+ exhaust systems for 250-300. He made me an approx. 4' long stainless midpipe (3") with an s bend to mate it from the y to the downpipe, thus removing my horrible midpipes from the previous owner and eliminating 6 LEAKY FLANGES in the process! He also said he would be more than happy to bend intercooler piping when I get my FMIC (although Im considering v-mounting to avoid radiator/oil cooler blockage) Also, the local junkyards are chock full of imports, because NOONE up here drives them. There were several 240s and a n/a FC with the whole interior gutted but NOONE touched the engine!!! Tell me what you guys think!!! I have more if you wanna see more, and hopefully some vids soon! I need at least one 240 buddy and one Haichi buddy out here! Lots of jobs and cheap housing out here, and I'm looking for a roommate!!! ![]() PS: The pics have my handle from the rx-7 specific forums, FCkin Rotary, in case you're wondering... This is looking down the high speed section, just hanging the camera out the car haha. It's about 1/2 mile straight with a 15mph s curve at the top and a 20mph s curve at the bottom that feeds into a huge 25mph banked turn Again, the view from the top (and of my ugly zenki tails). It's gorgeous out here, especially coming from a Philly kid. This is about 3/4ths of the way to the bottom of the mountain. Glamour shot of the bitch. Towards the top of the hill in the wooded section, kinda hairy because there are private residences nestled in all of the curves, and I don't want to draw attention (out of state tags to boot). I'm too nervous to mess around at night without spotters because of deer/other animals popping out EVERYWHERE...
