Running a Red light.
I looked through about 10 pages of posts trying to find something similar but couldn't find anything. Here is what happened, Today i was coming back from the store and i was about 2 blocks away from my apartment in Philadelphia. I came up to the intersection where i make a right, when i was approaching the intersection the light turned yellow. I am pretty sure that i was clear of the intersection by the time it turned red, but not certain. I did not speed up trying to make it i just coasted through and continued making my turn. There was an officer sitting at the intersection who then turned their lights on and pulled me over. Even though it was my first time being pulled over he wrote me a ticket for running a red light, 3112 -A -3 -1 which is a $120 fine and three points. I asked him what the deal was with the points because i dont know how they work. He told me that he was doing me a favor by telling me this and that i should show up for my hearing and tell them i plan on fighting it until they give me the option to plead guilty or not guilty. He said at this point if i plead guilty they will most likely drop the points and just have me pay the fine, because it will save them time and effort. My question is does this sound like good advice, or is he pulling my chain? Also, from personal experience what do you think my chances are of winning if i do choose to fight this? Thank you in advance.
