I never said every rescue dog is a bad dog. I have a rescue dog of my own. But there ARE troubled dogs in shelters. The last Doberman I attempted to rescue was extremely hand shy, extremely (human) male shy, extremely reactive to even the smallest movement. As much as I wanted to rescue the dog, my parents gave me a big fat no. Being a multiple dog household, they weren't comfortable with bringing a dog so sharp and shy into the house. His temperament was not something my parents were prepared to handle. They are not prepared to handle fear biters. And he was a fear biter. If it was my own home, I would've been more than willing to bring him home and show him the love he apparently never got. But like I said, not EVERY home is ready and able to handle a dog like that. But by no means is EVERY dog like that. I have met many rescued dogs, lots of SWEET, loving, gentle pit bulls.

Small children who don't know how to act properly around animals are going to be a turn off for people looking to rescue dogs with some possible temperament/behavioral problems. No matter what the breed, some dogs are raised around abuse/neglect by their owners...and they aren't exactly little love bugs sometimes, but sometimes they are the sweetest things you'll ever meet.

My only caveat was that not EVERY dog is the right one for EVERY home. But that applies to purebreds from breeders as well. Face it, there are some people who don't even deserve to have a house plant let alone a dog/cat/animal in general. That's all. I'm not hating on rescues. I thoroughly encourage rescue whenever possible. If you are able to take one in, PLEASE, PLEEEEASSE rescue! But if you don't, make sure the breeder you are buying from is REPUTABLE. Irresponsible, unethical breeders are half of the reason people are dumping their dogs in shelters.

I could go on and on. But I won't. I get too angry talking about people who sell dogs for profit.
