Recaro SRD/Speeds

I'm in the market for some new seats for my 02 WRX and wanted to see if anyone here has any opinions. I'm looking at the Recaro Speed (SRD) for me and a Speed S for the passenger side (looser fitting for more portly individuals, or people with hips). I'm what you would classify as being skinny. I think I'd gain a lot in terms of driving involvement if I had a more heavily bolstered seat. One that fits.

Things I'm interested in:
Comfort
Fit - should be snug but not too snug that I can't wiggle around
Reclining - it's my DD!
Not ridiculous looking - My car has a grey top, black dash w/silver trim, black seats with black and blue inserts, matching black and blue check door cards.
Doubles as a race seat for AutoX and Trackday

What do you think of the Speeds or what would you recommend?

Thanks!

I have Recaro SRDs in my MR2, and I DD the car.. They are very comfortable and offer plenty of support.

now the only thing is that I'm a small, skinny kid... so I can't really speak in terms of if they will be able to accommodate you or not. But everyone that has been in my car has said nothing but good things about the seats.

That's cool. I think I fit in the same bracket as you. Skinny kid. Not the typical American form factor.

Now on your passenger seat, are those tears in the material? Or...? How have they held up?

I gotta do some more research... I'd consider buying a used set if I could get them reupholstered. ESP since they don't come in many colors that would go w/my interior. I'm already getting picky, aren't I?

not at all.. it's your car. there are prob a couple shops in the area that would reupholster them any color(s) you want. Just have to pay to play.

the rips in the passenger seat happened/were repaired before I bought the seats, however they are/have been holding up fine. no issues and they don't even look at bad really. For the most part they are cigarette burns, and the normal seat tearing where people rub the seat when being lazy getting in and out of the car lol.

A friend of mine informed me that there's a meet coming up in a few weeks. Maybe you, DPancoast as some others will be there and I could plop my a$$ down for a test fit. Any chance of it?

... I must say that I've never had any experience with reupholstering car furniture (any furniture, really). My friend had a pulled thread in his STi's seat and figured that shouldn't happen . he took it in to get fixed and the company that did the re-upholstery job absolutely Killed his bolstering. The seats were practically flat. I'm worried that if I were to buy used, they'd screw it up like that and in the end I'd be down more cash than if I just bought new. Know of any places that are known to do good work on race/sport car seats?

I'll have to look up wkderf. Thanks.
