I think the bellhousing bolts are a nightmare to get to on that, and I wonder if the exhaust is in the way at all. Other then that it should be straight forward remove and replace.

OE style clutch or are you upgrading?

I would resurface the flywheel too.

Do the rear main seal too while your at it. If you have a warm garage, cold beers and a radio and jacks I'm sure you can find some local help

^^^^^

I would take that offer up, Because you will not find a cheaper rate then that, ANYWHERE... Unless you are having friends do it, Or someone who is not sure what they are even doing.

AAA wont tow it if its not registered. well maybe they will if theres a tag on it and you get lucky that the driver doesnt ask, but the policy is that the car has to be registered and road worthy (i.e. it has to have and engine/transmission installed and have wheels on it etc.)

^ But I have a car or 2 towed. I never got asked any questions other then whats your cell, where you at, and where you want it to go. They never verifited any docs or anytihng. But I do belive the official policy is registered and road ready.

I know exactly how you feel, and I used to be the same way (heck, I still am with some things). Honestly you just gotta nut up and do it yourself. Take your time, dont let yourself get frustrated. Do all the reading about the job you can BEFORE you start. It looks like you have another car as a DD, so you dont have to worry about finishing it the day you start it. Put the bitch up on jack stands, get some friends, and go to town. Even if it takes you a week, youll be ten times more glad you did it yourself once its all done. The hardest part is lifting the trans up to put it back on the motor.. youll need a trans jack for that if youre doing it on the ground. If you can find someone with a lift it'll make your life a lot easier. But its still not that bad with a trans jack (or a regular jack ghettoed up with 2x4's to hold a trans.. thats what I did).

Seriously though. The only way youre gonna learn to do that stuff is by doing it yourself. Making mistakes and getting stuck is all part of the process- we've all been through it. Thats where the forums come in handy, because 99.9% of the time, someone else has had the same exact problem, or been stuck in the same place.

get a service manual for the car if you can, it usually has step by step instructions and torque specs for this sort of thing
