Fitting in a Miata.
I'm 6'1 around 240lbs. Looking into a 1g Miata. Any one have any insight on how this might work out? I'm about to head down to the dealership and test fit myself, but they only have newer ones, is their a huge difference in interior room? I'm also looking for some specs on a hardtop. Does it make roof clearance any lower?

New ones are roomier than old ones for sure. The hardtop doesn't increase headroom, it actually decreases it a bit though the part where it slopes down is behind the seats so it won't be an issue.
I'm 5'11" and 220lbs and I fit into my 2nd gen very comfortably. Besides, if you're too tall, that's nothing a lower seat can't fix.

You talking about Carl's Miata? I've been in his too, didn't he have a after market seat that sat lower?

Nah it was a stock seat. I drove it all the way to the poconos and not one complaint from me.

at 5'10" 200lbs, while I fit in all the generations the new one (06+) is the only one I would want to sit in for prolonged periods of time. When I initially bought mine it was my only car so that was important...now its my toy so in retrospect a 94+ NA with a LS2 might have been a better option.

I'm 6'2" and am comfortable in mine. I replaced the stock wheel with a 330mm Personal wheel, that helped a ton. My knees were getting into my hands on the wheel with the stock setup. Stock is 360mm IIRC. This is all in an NA btw. NBs are a bit tighter side to side, as their door panels intrude more into the interior. NCs are much more roomy then previous Miatas.

Yea, you just have to sit in one and see if it's for you. Pretty much everything has been said already. New ones are roomiest, old ones second, NB last.

5 11 and 220 lbs? 5 10 and 200 lbs, jesus christ guys! haha
im 5 10 and 150 lbs and fit perfect in a first gen. the third gen is actually BIG for me. i have to move the seat forward a good amount. last time i checked, jason saini is about 6 3 or so and he was the spec miata champion and moved onto mx5 cup, champion there, and has moved on since. so not only can 6 footers fit, they can win races! youll be just fine!
