J-tune Performance of DE, Negative Experience

Just wanted to pass it on to other enthusiast with this experience. Most people know me and my car. Last winter I had J-tune(formally CARV2 under old ownership) in Delaware removed my motor so my engine bay can be painted. After the installation the shop noticed that my power steering is inoperative. J-tune thought of a possibility that it could be my new wheels that's causing the issue. Although the new wheels are the same exact size and off-set as the old wheels, I did put the old wheels back on and did not resolve the problem. Notify the shop and I was told that the owner will get back with me. Three months later I haven't heard back from them. Bear in mind that prior owners CARV2 removed the motor twice and never had any issues with it. A month ago, with an agreement with Jtune I hired an Osiris Tuner from Washington State to utilized Jtune shop for my car to be tune plus other cars that was willing to convert to osiris. "It was an agreement over the phone between Jtune and myself that I will not be charged for the use of the DYNO". Couple days after the Dyno I get a phone call from Jtune with a charge of 8 hours of Dyno Time. Now my car was tuned for 3 hours maxed. The tuner from Washington says I should be charged for the actual tuning not for "sitting" on the Dyno! Now although the tuning went well, my car could not be set above 4 lbs of boost because all of a sudden my boost soleniod was missing. Jtune seems to think that my engine bay painter took it off, but yet "he let me take the car home after the engine installation". I was wondering why the engine was very sluggish. I've have gotten over the frustrations with Jtune I just felt that you all should be aware! I am aware that there is two jtune in the northeast, to avoid any confusion and drama it is Jtune (formally CARV2 under old ownership) in Delaware.

To clear ANY mix up, we have a J-Tuned and a J-Tune as vendors on TST. This feeback is for J-TUNE (formally CARV2 under old ownership) in Delaware, not about Jim from J-Tuned. Original poster, if you could please edit your post and fix your mistakes so we don't have any mix ups about Jim from J-Tuned, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good looking out man! I appreciate the heads up. I was looking into getting some stuff done there after I pay my wedding bills lol. Hopefully they man up and fix your problems!

Are you under 21? Because honestly , you sound like a noob kid who had no idea what he was getting into as far as tuning. Stuff happens bro, nothing that you've relayed so far seems to be of monumental proportions. Sometimes it takes a while to find/diagnose a problem/issue. Sounds like you just need to chill out a bit and try to work things out amicably. Slamming a vendor on TST is not going to help though....

I'm old enough to be your dad or maybe granddad. You haven't got the message I'm trying to convey. When a vendor tells u there is no charge you honor that statement! And yes it does help to relay this to other people. would you like to get rip-off by a vendor? An I do have a lot of experience in building a car!!!

All i was saying is that slamming someone online isn't the best way to resolve an issue, most mature people know that. Have you tried peacefully resolving it with the owner of the company? I remember when they first introduced on here, seem to be a stand-up company with a good rep. I just hate when people fly off the handle and post stuff like this over a simple miscommunication or disagreement.

As far as the thread, I always encourage people to try and work out their problems one on one as that is usually the most effective way to get things done. It is often a miscommunication that can be handled and its unfortunate when things have to go public. I hope that you will make the effort to resolve things with them directly and that they will be responsive to it so everyone ends up happy here.

EDIT: OP- In that case , I would really recommend you talking to the owner in person and trying to get it taken care of. At the most, threaten small-claims court, though it would be really tough for you to prove/show your monetary loss[es], unless you have receipts and signed contracts regarding the dyno session.

No worries... I usually don't bitch or complain about things. Matter of fact I usually don't even post anything unless good things are done to my car. This is the first time I ever had to post a negative comment. Yes I talk to the owner of Jtune on the phone. I told him alll my issues. All he was worried about is collecting his Dyno money. I even sent the owner a noterized letter explaining my issues. The only notice I got is my check being cleared from the bank! So yes in a professional manner I have done what was necessary.. I don't like bashing anyone, I hate the drama, but I will not stand aside and let others get #@%^#^ like I did!

Wes, I understand your frustration. We tried to resolve your problem, however, you wrote it on the letter that was sent to us, specifically "NOT" to call you. We believe in communication ;and the reason for this problem is from mis-communication and therefore, we did not want to contact you through the internet nor through here. Since obviously, you are still frustrated over the issue, we would like to discuss it with you.

As for the power steering problem, I did not want and I would not recommend for the car to leave the shop with this problem, however, since you said you need to get your car painted so I told you that you can bring your car back for us to diagnose the problem, but it never come back for diagnostic up till now.

Secondly, as for the tuning price problem, we have it on our web site as 160/hr for Dyno rental, a price for other SHOP, not for individual. Our tuner told you to speak to me for the exact price, however, the conversation never took place. We promised to give you a "deal", not for "FREE". That's why we took off $400; just for you as you were a long term customer with CarV2.

Third, as for the part of "Now my car was tuned for 3 hours maxed.", your car was on the dyno from 11am-7pm, no doubt about that. We were working on your car every hour of that time while other customer was waiting for the dyno session.

I really don't want to explain all the issues on the forum as I truely believe the problems can only be solved by us communicating, but as a owner of the shop, I have to stand up for the shop. If you are still frustrating over the issues, please give me a call personally.

Even though your original post resembles the grammar, and quite frankly the understanding of a 16 year old, I see the only real issue being your misunderstanding of the situation. I do not see how it would be any shops fault that you assumed you would get something for free. Any adult who decides to spend thousands of dollars on their vehicle, which you most definitely have, would be crazy to just expect to have services performed for free. A "deal" over the phone seems a bit fabricated, and for someone who is "old enough to be my grandfather" getting this "deal" down on a piece of paper would have been the intelligent route to go!

Through my dealings with the shop I have received nothing but the up most respect and honesty. Hok is a very professional business owner who will go to much further lengths then most to make sure his customers are satisfied and that the service provided is top notch. The original posters misunderstandings of how the real world works (honestly free dyno time?) should not deter anyone from coming to this shop. I would recommend their services to anyone without hesitation.

Do not worry J-Tune I am sure many others will come to your defense! You guys are the best!

(Hok I trailered the Z home and I did call and talked to Jerry about the issue, he said that you were gonna call back.. Now even if you did call me back I know for a fact that you probably would have charge me for something I didn't break.)

Hok The tuner did not start till 12:30, he was late and technically he didn't start tuning till 4:00... and its not about paying the money. Its about honoring your employee's word and if you don't do that, do whats fair!

Hok I did talk to Nuri, ryan and then you. I've done what I could, the problem wasn't communication, the problem is you would not listen!! I've done what i can to communicate. Like you I don't want to be make a big drama out of this, but I did make the call and calling you again would be pointless.
