Clarify- A) SHifting INTO 2nd gear, or B) The 2nd Shift you make (ie. into 3rd gear) ?

I'm not a big fan of either. I think my trans is a bitch notchy though. Either way, I prefer 2nd-3rd over 1st-2nd. I usually get a bit of a buck/jolt going from 1st-2nd.

I guess you could say I "like" the 2nd-3rd shift... though my car is a bit low on the torque.

^^^holy **** man...you're way off...this has nothing to do with your transmission

I have experienced all shifts so far. I didn't mind working 2nd shift monday-thursday, but fridays suck....typically i would get out of work too late and i'd be too tired to make anything out of the night. One advantage to working 2nd is that if you are single and not looking for a relationship, it is a great way to save money because you never get to go out.

Right now i work 3rd shift which sucks hardcore. The money is good, but i like sleeping at night much better than working. Another good thing is that you never hit any traffic going to/from work. I might get some good sleep once a week at best and i'm constantly too tired to do anything. I'm trying to get a new job right now, but the market is terrible.

ROFL. yeah, I don't know what I was thinking... responding to a thread about "2nd Shift" on an auto forum... what am I, on crack?? though I will admit, i was thoroughly confused by the "unemployed option"... :D sorry guys, I'm not a "shift worker/laborer", so I guess its not really forefront on my mind.

but btw, Who teh eff posts a poll asking people's opinions of working the "Second shift" at work???? Who likes work period??? Plus, the "2nd shift" isn't really a standard time-frame, its different at every employer.

This thread seems like it should have been a blog entry entitled "I hate/Love the 2nd shift at my work" - by Dragonfly. Seriously, what good does it do you to know how people on TST feel about working the second shift??? You obviously just want a forum to extrapolate on your feelings on the subject... i suggest keep it to your blog. ;)

i work first shift, i worked 2nd shift on a jobsite once because we needed to do work over a sidewalk 5 stories up so it needed to be empty on the streets. it was awesome, going to work at about 6pm there isnt too much traffic, but on the way home at 2 am u can speed and not have to stop for anything, plus it was the summer so it was 15 degrees cooler, and they sun was never in your eyes much. having the entire jobsite to yourself without tripping over people, waiting for people, or getting in peoples way was the best, and not to mention parking, we didnt have to walk a quarter mile to our cars, we parked them in the street for free.

my dad use to work 3rd shift when i was a kid and i never saw him. he'd be asleep all day, even on weekends as no not mess his sleep schedule up.

i had a job working 6:30am til' 3pm then worked at another job from 4pm til' 9pm mon/fri. It doesn't really count as a second shift but it wasn't too bad. plus i worked 8am-6pm on sat and 11am-4pm on sundays at yet another job. i got burnt out in a year of doing that but now being unemployed i'd rather bust my ass than sit on it all day doing nothing

Jesus Christ what did you sit on and lodge up there? You've been so freaking negative lately. Get all pissy and take it out on the OP all because you didn't read the poll options? Seriously?

I dunno about you guys but I love shifting into unemployed gear......

It's pretty common on Fords and Caviqueers.

I've worked 2nd shift for the past 3 years at 3 different car dealerships.

Its a like/hate situation. On the upside, I sleep in a little later, everything is where I want it when I close up, and the nights are usually cooler than working during the day.

However, working late sucks, especially when everyone else is done with work around 5.
